Description Process of...[link]

I've always wanted to do one of these but haven't because I never think to save the steps, until now.

Normally when I color, I never keep in mind the idea of creating a process image because usually all I care about is the result.

Hopefully the next one will be a bit better.

I actually do have one. ^_^' What kind of brush settings would one use for the lights/shading parts (everythign after step 2 essentially)?

I use a round, hard-edge brush with low opacity to start blending colors together (Occasionally using a soft brush with very low opacity to smoothen things out). In step four though, the layer with the white light on Sonic's torso is then set to overlay mode and I proceed to paint underneath that layer. That's my method for doing lighting.

Oh sweet. Thanks for sharing. I just started a digital art class and I've been trying to pick up a variety of techniques so I can be prepared for our first project, whenever that may be. Thanks again.

Thanks. The trick with the glove is something I just learned recently.

You mean how the gloves are reflecting the light against his skin?

Default-Deviant In reply to WatchMyFeet [2011-11-14 07:20:02 +0000 UTC]

No I mean how I can add pure white on a black base, overlapping the reflected light.
Much better method than what I was using before.

Ah I get you now. Yeah, your method seems approachable. And this was done only on a few layers?

Default-Deviant In reply to WatchMyFeet [2011-11-14 07:42:49 +0000 UTC]

Yeah I just use 4 layers
1. Black
2. Back light
3. Sky light
4. White

Or were you referring to the entire piece?
