Description Truuue story.

This is the thing which has consumed my life for the past 2 weeks. >_> I originally meant it to be one long strip, but then had to make it into pages for my class just to have a way to print it and present it, but I compiled it back into a long strip for here on teh web.

I am so sick of looking at this thing. So much stress over it and there are a lot of problems I last minute noticed and didn't have time to fix >_< Oh well.

Not really much else to say... Hope you guys are at least amused by it.

EDIT: Daily Deviation? Wooooah! Thanks guys!!

I'm swamped with things to respond to now, but here's some more overall thoughts on the topic that have been brought up in comments:

1 - ADD is more than just procrastination and not being able to focus. Everyone is "a little ADD", yes, but the problem is when its something you're having trouble everyday with most things versus just one thing you don't want to do. You have trouble getting even simple things done, can't follow directions, zone out in the middle of conversations, etc. For more info, I recommend this site: [link]

2 - I'm not necessarily advocating medicine or saying everyone should take them. It's up to the individual and what works for them. They're also not a "cure" - it just gives you more of the boost you need to do what you should. I saw a specialist before going on medication who taught me note-taking/studying methods and time management skills, but my meds help me to follow through with what I know I have to do more consistently.

Anyway, thanks again for the DD I'll try to get to everyone's comments eventually...but there sure are a lot. o-o

...oh wow...add glasses and make the hair brown and this would be a story about me XD
I can like 100% relate to this.

I take concerta and without it I am such a derp and I cannot even focus on drawing or watching a movie let alone focus on things that need to get done... with it though I work wonders and become so focused on tasks that I forget to stop and eat XD

hahaha! I tried concerta but it didn't work for me so I'm on Strattera now. I always feel like I have to be doing something when I'm watching a movie...it drives my family crazy. One time I got so involved in a project that even though I had cooked my dinner and had it sitting next to me, I completely forgot to eat it - and didn't notice until hours later! I think we're living the same life LOL

Hahaha! Heck my food does not make it out of the microwave half the time!
*I pop food in the microwave and go off to finish something meaning to take a few minutes...
*3 hours later my sister tries to use the microwave
her "Whoes dried up spaghetti is this?!"
me "gerd damnit not again!"

Oh, you're Falconer on the SJ Forums! Congratulations on the DD!

It's a really good thing that you could figure that problem out. As for the artistic part, every panel is great, the pose on the 2nd one was my personal favourite, and the coloring fits as well.

I totally know what you mean! D: i'm actually ADHD (not that i ever noticed much of a difference between the two but who cares) i know when i was young whenever i didn't take my meds I would flip out and do pretty much NOTHING productive..... except run around the house with my head cut off annoying my family >w<

You might not notice a difference between the two, but since my cousin has ADHD I definitely can haha! Whenever he visited us he wouldn't take his medication and it would drive my parents crazy with all his random antics and bustling around lol

I can really relate to this XD I have really bad depression along with Bipolar and Seasonal affective disorder and ADD.

If I stop taking my Meds I go batshit. I work at our college every year and do this program called "Jumpstart" where we take kids with academic disabilities and orient them to the college. I have seen a lot of students decide not to take or to irregularly take their meds and usually it is the deciding factor of whether they can stay in college or not.

My really good friend from Jumpstart stopped taking their meds for ADD and failed out her second quarter. I feel that Medication REALLY does make a difference if you Have ADD. But the medication isn't for everyone. I have ADD along with my depression and all the other problems and I can't take ADD medicine because it makes me focus on the wrong things and also stimulants are awful for me :/

I'm really glad you got a DD Congratulations it is well deserved!

Wow - bipolar, SAD, and ADD?! That sounds crazy! D:

It definitely does make a difference for some people. I used to have depression, but that was before I was diagnosed with ADD - and as we have realized now, I was depressed then because of a lot of the problems ADD was causing me. :/ (oh how much grief I could have been spared of if we'd found out sooner!)

Anyway, thanks a lot for the comment! I wish you the best!

I'm sure that this comic can raise a lot of awareness towards students with academic disabilities

WE ARE NOT ALONE!

Yes, we definitely not! Depression is really the worst D: The responses people have had to this comic have really blown me away...it's amazing! I had no idea people could take so much from it. I've also gotten to hear a lot of other people's stories and experiences and its been pretty cool.

Thanks again for commenting!

That's sort of how I used to be. But I stopped taking my meds when I was 13. I admit, life wasn't the best, but I actually took control of my ADD. Despite not being able to ever fully focus on something, I have used my ADD to increase the speed of my mental capacity. The people who know how well I do in school are generally surprised to hear I have ADD and do not take medication.

DelusionInABox In reply to Nicodemus-Zamoran [2011-04-14 04:34:49 +0000 UTC]

I wasn't diagnosed until near the end of my years in high school and my friends didn't believe me that I had it because they didn't understand how I could have ADD and still be in honors classes and a pretty good student. I guess I just had enough natural intelligence to compensate and I was a pretty good note taker - in subjects I liked. In everything I liked, I did great, and in anything else...wellllll not so much XD I'd do okay, but those were usually the classes I would completely forget about assignments or make a lot of simple mistakes on tests.

Anywho, thanks for commenting! I wish you the best!

I know the feeling of forgetting things. >.> I'm notorious around here for my bad memory for things other than games and algebra. Plus various facts that pop up from time to time. But despite that, I passed school easily, without studying, or only taking notes when they were part of the grade. I thought fast, using my ADD. I rarely went to honor student status, but that was by choice. I didn't want to be seen as the smart guy. I wanted to be seen as a guy who is a good friend.

And you are most welcome. And thank you. lol I hope the rest of your day goes well, as life should be.

XD I have ADD.... but I don't take medication for it, I play with Silly Putty. I always have a case with me, they each last up to a month, the color changing kind doesn't last as long. I actually found a study that they did where items that have sensory appeal help students with ADD who are better able to focus if they can have something in their hands.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

DelusionInABox In reply to BertsCreator [2011-04-14 04:25:13 +0000 UTC]

Interesting! I hadn't heard of that before, but I feel like that totally makes sense. I usually always feel like I have to be doing something with my hands...even when I'm watching a movie, I always have to be doing something (which drives my family crazy haha). I think I might have to try that out sometime.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BertsCreator In reply to DelusionInABox [2011-04-15 03:56:26 +0000 UTC]

..... I.... Love.... Silly Putty.... You should totally try it.... @w@

Heh, I could totally wreak havock with the studies that were done. I had an employer yell at me several times because I had my Silly Putty with me, I could have waved these studies in their faces "I HAS ADD'S LEAVE ME ALONE!" XD I probably... wouldn't go quite that far... but it was a little awful trying to cope for 8.5 hours without it.

Nice! I saw a behavioral specialist for a while and they helped teach me a lot of things, but I wasn't always good at being able to follow through with what I'd learned haha Too bad a lot of things I learned where good for studying-type schoolwork...which I don't really need in art school LOL.

Anyway, thanks! Glad you liked it!

It surprises me how many ADDs are here on DA... as far as I know don't have it myself, but I'm sure have problems focusing sometimes and remembering stuff -not to mention the procrastination lol- ... still managed to get through college successfully

Good thing the pills work for you, I know some cases where they just turn people into "zombies" instead of helping...

Anyway, it's an excellent comic, so well drawn and I love the fact that you take your problem with humor

It seems like ADD is common among artist people...hmmm..

Glad you got through school successfully! Good job! I've heard that happening to people too, but the one I'm on doesn't do that, so I'm thankful for that. Really depends on the meds and how it reacts to you I guess.

Anyway, thanks! Glad you liked it.
