Description Truuue story.

This is the thing which has consumed my life for the past 2 weeks. >_> I originally meant it to be one long strip, but then had to make it into pages for my class just to have a way to print it and present it, but I compiled it back into a long strip for here on teh web.

I am so sick of looking at this thing. So much stress over it and there are a lot of problems I last minute noticed and didn't have time to fix >_< Oh well.

Not really much else to say... Hope you guys are at least amused by it.

EDIT: Daily Deviation? Wooooah! Thanks guys!!

I'm swamped with things to respond to now, but here's some more overall thoughts on the topic that have been brought up in comments:

1 - ADD is more than just procrastination and not being able to focus. Everyone is "a little ADD", yes, but the problem is when its something you're having trouble everyday with most things versus just one thing you don't want to do. You have trouble getting even simple things done, can't follow directions, zone out in the middle of conversations, etc. For more info, I recommend this site: [link]

2 - I'm not necessarily advocating medicine or saying everyone should take them. It's up to the individual and what works for them. They're also not a "cure" - it just gives you more of the boost you need to do what you should. I saw a specialist before going on medication who taught me note-taking/studying methods and time management skills, but my meds help me to follow through with what I know I have to do more consistently.

Anyway, thanks again for the DD I'll try to get to everyone's comments eventually...but there sure are a lot. o-o

I got my ADD diagnosis a couple of weeks back, for problems IΒ΄ve had since childhood, and they also want me to take Ritalin, but IΒ΄m not very found of medication, so IΒ΄ve decided to try natural-medicine first, I have accepted my diagnosis(IΒ΄ve known that something were wrong a really long time) but I don't want to drug myself down to fit in whit the "common" pattern, I donΒ΄t want that to be my fate..

blarf. I wish I didn't connect to this so well. I probably have ADD but I'm asking about it on Thursday. I've been on at least 20 different antidepressants or anxiety pills and they haven't solved a damn thing except get me very very addicted to anxiety pills.

Aww I used to have bad depression and when I tried meds for that, they didn't help at all. Though now we know my depression was mostly a result of the problems that my ADD was causing...so the diagnosis for me has been good.

Hang in there & good luck!

To be honest, I think I also have ADD. I procrastinate A LOT even though I'm well aware I need to be working on something. Perhaps it's time I tried to do something about it (not necessarily medication).

Wow, great comic.
I have ADD too, but I refuse to take my medication. It kills me to not get as much done as I want but the side effects of the drugs are just too severe to consider...

Thanks

I remember the first one they had me try had bad effects for me; the one I'm taking now is (obviously) much better. Bad side effects are no fun D: I wish you the best!

funny comic, though i have the oppisite feelings about my add medication. i was taking the medication most of my life and stopped taking it a couple years ago, my personality changed alot.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DelusionInABox In reply to shanna66 [2011-04-13 00:13:50 +0000 UTC]

Thanks. Others have mentioned that as well. I suppose its a lot about just how it reacts to you. For some people it works, and others it doesn't. Just one of those things...

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

shanna66 In reply to DelusionInABox [2011-04-13 11:20:22 +0000 UTC]

well it worked really well for me, but it also dulled down my personality and i got depressed alot for no reason. as soon as i stopped taking it i became a very bubbly person and didnt get depressed nearly as often. i dont get stuff done much anymore and am very forgetful now, but im kind of afraid to go back on the meds because of how much they changed my personality

My doc diagnosed me with ADD... I never took drugs and yet I still manage to concentrate (sometimes). And anyways, I'm afraid of ADD drugs, people say that they screw with your personality.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DelusionInABox In reply to i-Moosker [2011-04-13 00:11:18 +0000 UTC]

I think it depends a lot on the drug and just how it reacts to you. One I had tried early on I remember made me really jittery/nervous o-o I know a few people like my cousin who have ADHD, their medicine really makes them tired/lethargic so they tend not to take them all that often. The good news is that at least they don't (or at least I would think it would be very rare) do anything permanent to you. If there is bad effects, you can always just stop.

I admire that you can manage yourself well without them.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

i-Moosker In reply to DelusionInABox [2011-04-30 02:06:14 +0000 UTC]

Ahhh yes that would make much sense (about that the effects usually are temporary)... Maybe I should consider going to the doc and taking his offer up and see what would occur.

I can manage as long as there are people to help nudge me, but alone I'd be pretty hopeless hahah.

If you run short on ADD meds, say you're on vacation or whatever, supposedly caffeine will do in a pinch.

MorningGirl In reply to S-helleh [2011-04-12 16:53:33 +0000 UTC]

how is it a horrible thing to say? I have issues with focusing on things but I don't have ADD, if I did I could get the pills and it wouldn't be a problem anymore. But I don't so it's still a problem.

thus, I wish I had ADD so it didn't have to be a problem anymore.

TimeGhost00 In reply to ??? [2011-04-12 13:07:03 +0000 UTC]

Oh man, I can completely relate, although I've never taken medication and I probably should. I was kind of against the idea of getting medicated and felt like willpower should be enough, but into my fourth year of college I'm failing an art class for the first time in my life.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

DelusionInABox In reply to TimeGhost00 [2011-04-13 00:07:57 +0000 UTC]

That's no good. We didn't find out I had it until my older sister was failing in college and my parents didn't understand why because she did fine in high school. I guess she was able to compensate mostly until the load got too much...and since I already wasn't doing that great in high school they then had me tested too haha. I did fine freshman year without them, but since then I think they have helped to have. It gets hard though...you wish you had the willpower to just get things done that you know you shouldn't be having trouble doing, but sometimes it seems you just can't.

Hang in there! And good luck!
