Description
Finally the color version is done. This picture felt very different to the previous ones due to the special light and it's killed of every last one of my nerves. xD;;;Now I'm looking forward to a few days rest from painting anything pink. Seriously, I've felt colorblinded while working on some parts and areas. x___X
Hope you like it and I'm happy to hear your opinions.

Oh, this one is a bit different. You did a great job on choosing those evening colors. I bet they were tricky to get!

Yeah. This picture was a lot of experimenting, since I don't really have experience with evening scenarious or using semi transparent layers with an color overlay. It was both challenging to the eye and trying to find fitting colors.

Oh! Rocky at his best, hahaha. Was this scene more difficult to color than the other two?

It was. I hadn't really done any coloration like that before and since it's a little mono-colored, it was very tiresome to the eyes. xD
I love the chameleon who decided to show up and the little newt too. x3

I thought so. What program did you use for coloring?
Yes, but my favourite (beside Rocky) is still the poor turtle below.

Paint Tool SAI :3
The first picture was still done in Corel Painter, but all the later generations have serious issues with stability and memoryleaks. I havn't been able to befriend myself with Photoshop either so I was delighted when a friend introduced me to SAI.
Arw, little Eddie. X3 I love how he came out in his clayversion.

A lot of them have names, yes! I often come up with names while working on the pictures.
The Yakana for instance (the bird with the huge feet) is named Egbert and he's engulfed in his never ending pursue after Victor the (victorious) worm. Their first appearence was in my ID and they have a similar relation to another as Tom and Jerry (just not as viscious).

Yes. Will the worm ever be caught?

demiveemon In reply to galaxyyy1 [2012-02-21 21:06:58 +0000 UTC]
It's possible that Egbert will be able to catch him or atleast get very close to catching him. But I have no intention of killing any characters.
Did you spot Victor in this picture by the way? :3

Do you have any idea where is this siesta story taking place? Like, which continent?

demiveemon In reply to galaxyyy1 [2012-02-21 23:33:26 +0000 UTC]
Yes. It's somewhere along the border of India. I've tried to make sure that the animals in my jungle are ones that are native to south-asia. There are a few exceptions. At the time when I drew Siesta in the jungle, I didn't know that humming birds are native to America only (and the same goes for the blue parrot) I found that out on a later occation while I was putting together a Siesta-contest: [link] :3

Wow! That's a very professional approach. I'm sure fans will easily forgive you for those few "exceptions".

Before I got stuck in the Siesta jungle I did have an idea of drawing similar scheneries from around the world. If I ever come around to it, I might incluede Hubert as a reaccuring visitor as he is buzzing around the globe. xD

Yaaaay, how could I miss that one? Great job.. I love the expressions of the fish in the left corner and the poor turtle in the right one. I bet the coloring part took ages.

No. I've never liked the interface in photoshop. It's too technical and I've never learned to use it. I was a fan of Corel Painter for a long time, but the newer versions all suffer from instability and they get very laggy and sluggish. A friend of mine introduced me to a program called Paint tool SAI and I like it a lot. It's like something inbetween, but sometimes I have to use photoshop because it lacks some functions. :3
I recommend SAI for lineart and coloring!

Funny, my cousin told me exactly the same thing about Photoshop: too technical and not easy to learn (at the beginning). But after a while he decided to try harder, and now he loves it. One has to admit it is a strong tool after all.
SAI? Hmm never heard, but I'll check it out.
