Great use of lights and shadows on the masses, you have my admiration!
For the quick poses or the studies you should try the paper Amazon sells you (and uses) as stuffing paper for the packages: it's a huge cylinder of like of 35cm of diameter, it's grey, rough (so you can use charcoal and white pastel) and it's super cheap!
