Description
lots of people have been learning to model and stuff lately, so I figured I'd make a tutorial on rigging. its hard to explain tho so please don't ask me to explain it better e-e. I'd have to show you. so go get skype and I shall attempt to do so if you wish. but if you give up to easy I wont help you >->. modeling takes persistence and patience as well as the will to force yourself to complete it.The model used is an OC. its not done. it needs belts added, and obviously a head.
and I'm using "PMDEditor_0100" if you'd like I can reupload that versions since its about a half a year old. I hate the newer once since you can't remove the damn annoying circle thingy.
Now back to watching Kaitou Siant Tail \ o /

i dont have a tutorial but i can ust explain it here ^^ all you do is check where you where rigging and if there is a black vertex then just swipe over it with the same wait percentage you have the rest rigged as ^w^ i hope thats clear enough to understand

Would you happen to know how to rig eyes correctly?
π: 0 β©: 1
Desu-Prince-Karen In reply to TheGirlWillKillYou [2014-11-20 03:55:40 +0000 UTC]
rigging the eyes is easy, just rig the pupil to 100%. However the placement of the bones is crucial, and you may get clipping issues anyway depending on the shape of the eye. You've gotta expiriment with it to get the best outcome.Β (sorry for late reply I don't get on this account much)

Oh my god the percentage helped me a lot! I just started playing around with them and I created an even better, smooth movement when- like I bend the elbow. It looks smoother!

How do you rig shoulders?
everytime I try, it either collapses to the ground or doesn't follow the rest of the body
π: 0 β©: 2
Desu-Prince-Karen In reply to LuxSomnium [2014-11-20 03:59:38 +0000 UTC]
You may have already figured it out since Im so late replying, but if it drops to the ground that means you have stray physics that have attached to the shoulder, or have rigged the shoulder to something with physics. Shoulders are tricky depending on the topology (basically the way the model is made) so you really have to expiriment. Just make sure your rigging to the correct bone, and that the boneset your using is not broken. also always rig things in order from the center out.

If you rigged a vertex which you didn't want to rig, put to the wrong vertex to 0%

Oh my god, thank you! I've looked at another rigging tutorial before (the shirt I'm using hasn't been rigged properly) and it didn't work all that well in terms of gravity... :/ I'll try this method and see if it works and if not I'll be back with screenshots Q u Q;

Quick question, do you know if there's a way to change the SIZE of the brush? I've got a really small piece that I want to rig, but the brush is too large and it keeps selecting parts that I don't need selected.

uh yeah. You have to hold down ctrl I beleive. if not its that or alt or shift. and scroll. one of those things. Sorry it's been awhile.

because of the big size of the default brush I struggled too much when I was rigging fingers T_T
I just try it and found the shortcut is ( alt+scroll)Β

This little tutorial was nothing short of a Godsend for me. Before this, I found myself looking at rigging as the following pair of emotes: O.O; -> @.@;
Post-tutorial and it feels alot easier than I anticipated. Granted I've yet to fully master this skill, but it's exactly what I needed. Thanks~! >u<

π: 0 β©: 2
Stahlherz-Succubus In reply to Meemee123sss [2013-03-01 22:57:51 +0000 UTC]
I had an issue with that. Think about it this way: If there is a 1000 pound weight on you, would you be able to move?
I did the same thing that I assume you did. I selected the whole thing in PMD, painted it all over, and when I gave her a pose data in MMD, she just moved to a different location on the grid with her legs still perfectly straight and her arms spread out.
I know believe that there is a way so that she'll still bend, and so far my guess is that you have to paint certain objects with the brush.
I came here for the same reason you must have, so I wondered if Karen could help us both....oh well...

Desu-Prince-Karen In reply to Meemee123sss [2012-11-06 18:44:35 +0000 UTC]
I cant really help with just that. I have no idea what you mean by cant move because its impossible for a model to be not rigged to anything so it should move with the center bone at least.

Sorry I don't rig other models. it's like having a random person give you a half finished project and tell you to finish it without saying how. its just to strange working with other's work.

Desu-Prince-Karen In reply to cheesyautumn [2012-08-30 00:43:37 +0000 UTC]
If the pupil is part of the eyewhites layer I can't help. But if its separate just rig it 100% and move the bones around till it stays in the head while the bone's are moved. the positioning can be tricky, and varies depending on how tall/wide/deep the eye is.
