Description
Mnieiads haunt the depths of the cosmically insane game known only as "t3nnis", and have the distinction of being one of the most despised creatures in the the entire event. A Mnieiad is one of the few monsters in the game that is not only at a "god" level, but actively hunts other players and destroys its surroundings with no provocation. Mnieiad's are thought to be very small parts of Phantom, but some say they are manifestations of a different albeit related entity. The end result led to creatures many think are way too powerful to exist in the t3nnis context.A Mnieiad exists only for chaos, and affects its environment in a two-part fashion. Its endlessly rotating body generates a constant suction that pulls most objects straight into its sharply bladed protrusions. At the same time, its massive outpouring of magic actively distorts the properties and locations of its immediate environment. Many have compared the Mnieiad to a black hole, albeit a very small, speedy and malevolent one. Unlike the Redwalker , the Mnieiad does not purposefully seek and torment weaker players, but only because its wide swath of destruction simply doesn't care to discriminate. A single Mnieiad may decimate multiple Guilds, cities, and factions before leaving of its own accord or being killed by someone powerful enough to do the deed.
Fighting a Mnieiad is nearly impossible with physical weaponry. The lucky heroes will have their items yanked from their hands and get the chance to flee... while less lucky heroes are sliced into powder along with all they own. Even a successful hit involves impact against such a dense object at such high velocity that joints would be easily dislocated from the jarring shift. Many think they are safe if they can simply avoid the Mnieiad's blades, but these individuals are still in danger of being boiled, dissolved, or otherwise discombombulated from passive magical discharge.
Magic can affect a Mnieiad, but the effects are an all or nothing. Many users will be so disrupted by the monster's energy output that they will be unable to cast the spells they desire (or any spell at all). Only high level magic cast by those in control has promise of afflicting a Mnieiad, and non-elemental magic yields the best results. Dark magic deters and inhibits a Mnieiad's ability to function, but does very little harm to them. Holy (or light) magic does not debilitate them in the same ways, but can damage and eventually destroy them. These types can be used in conjunction for best results.
Like Redwalkers, Mnieiads have been the subject of numerous ban petitions, and to call someone a Mnieiad is a very extreme insult—labeling them as a mindless destructive force that doesn't even deserve the power it inadvertantly obtained. While Mnieiads have not been removed from competitive play, their numbers have been reduced by more than 90% since their initial appearance.
