Description
Here's two screen grabs of Abomination from the new HULK movie that I just had to alter. The trailer is here: [link]I'm cool with this version of the movie so far. I'm very interested in seeing it, and want to like it very much. But I'm troubled by the choice to deviate from Abomination's likeness so much. I've read the director's justification for it, I respect it, I just disagree with it and feel they could have invented a brand new villain for Hulk instead of exploiting the name of an established character for fan interest, then not delivering. It's my opinion, but I think if you call it Abomination, it should look like him. So I added some ears and some minor touch ups around the face to make it look a touch more like his namesake. What do you think?

In the Riseverse, after the Civil War started, Tony stark thawed out Abomination and recruited Abomination into the Thunderbolts, a team dedicated to hunting down unregistered superheroes and either killing them or banishing them to the Negative Zone.

For me, the ears bring out his eye lids a tad too much. Β still pretty cool, though

....Sorry, I just can't take him seriously with those fins on his head. He just looks silly to me. I've read the comics. I enjoy them, but it just doesn't seem right on him. That, and I don't really understand WHY he grows those fins. I get the spikes on the back, that's his spine, I get the elbow...spike things. But where would fish fins come from?
Sorry, I prefer the movie version. This one just leaves too many questions.

That's cool, you're entitled to your opinion. But the fact remains, the original character has those ears. I like it too without the ears. He looks great. But the original had ears, so this one should have had them as well.

There are just some things that need to stay in the comics, in my opinion.
Like Iron Man's iron nose. Captain America's wing ear things. Hawkeye's 616 costume. Superman's 90s mullet.

This doesnt stop it by being used for the abomination in future movies.
all gamma creatures evolve or change in some way, ex gray hul to savage hulk. his skeletal like form could be just early phase. Does not stop him from growing ears. plus his elbow got pulled out and he was stabbed in the heart with it, that cold make it r rated. just sayin.

In the movie, hulk stabbed him, but we can't barely see what's happening. So it's not really much of a problem instead of biting his ear

I actually read on IMDB that they decided not to give him those ears in the movie because the Hulk would most likely bite them off. They figured that if the Hulk did that, they would probably have to rate it as R instead of PG-13.
Excellent photo manipulation by the way! It really looks like it was like that in the movie!

No no no this isn't meant to offend anyone! I was just trying to tell you as to why they didn't give the Abomination his signature fin-like ears. It talks about it somewhere in the trivia for the movie in this link [link] The first one in the spoilers talks about how they took out the reptilian look, but I couldn't find the one where they talked about Hulk possibly biting off the Abomination's ears.

That sort of implies that HULK is real, and in no way controllable on set. If they didn't want a cg hulk biting off cg ears of a cg Abomination, then they wouldn't animate it. See my point? But it's still funny.

I honestly like your version better, i mean abomination's ears were like his main atribute in the comics and animation series. so i'm so happy to see someone make a more original version of abomination, so thank you for making this picture.

I loved Abomination ( still poke fun at the shortness of Tim Roth from time to time because of it lol) and I'm not upset that he lacks ears. Actually, he does have ears, just shrunk down instead of blown up.
In terms of Abomination design, Ultimate Destruction was the best. In terms of portrayal and slight re-thinking, it'd have to be the 2008 movie.

dude, that look so much better! I'm a real stickler for following source material. Although I was ok with the way he looked in the film, this would have been so much better. I wonder if anyone has tried o fix that godawfi\ul Green Goblin from the spider-man film yet.

such a simple feature too, it wouldn't have ruined the character or the movie to add those ears. Just as it didn't make the movie a billion times better and more believable to remove them. so annoying.

oh i know. i mean making abomination more human looking ruined it for me. i love his classic reptilian/fish look.

hells yes. I like the movie. I watch it every time it's on cable. I even like the Abomination in the movie. But the ears could have been included just to add that special something to the character that the fans love. It would have ruined nothing for the average viewer.
