I apologize for being an ass

shall I cite this?

it's not a painting. I understand enough of painting to know, that this is not the result of painting with paint brush tool (only).

you obviously don't know enough then.
technically I used the eyedropper tool and the paintbrush tool, only.
cite whatever you want

this is ridiculous, no one could paint in such an inefficient way. and if, it's either a laughting matter. (but you didn't paint it, so no official laughing from me)

I wasn't trying to be efficient, I was trying to create an ultra realistic drawing/painting, and since you believe it HAS to be a doctored photo, I'd say my inefficiency is paying off.

I PAINTED the entire thing at 200% magnification and 600ppi so that when I was finished I could double the overall size with very little quality loss. I did this so I could do a large print if I wanted. I could never achieve this if it was a filtered photo.

This picture [link] represents the 200% magnification.

This picture [link] is about half its original size. this picture [link] is full size.

On the first layers I used broad strokes to define the area. [link]
Then I turned off those first layers and repeated the first steps with a smaller brush. [link]
I again did the same thing a third time with an even smaller brush to create the fine details, as seen here [link] for the hair.

The technique may not be efficient or very creative, but that doesn't matter to me. I set out to create a very realistic drawing/painting and so far I am pleased with the results (even if it's taking a LOT longer than I anticipated).

I'm done trying to convince you. cite me, flame me, whatever. I know what I've done is genuine and I'm proud of it.

it still doesn't sound very plausible to me, but respect for defending your work *goes laughing a little more*

what proof do you have to make such a statement? If you look closely on this one you can see part of the grid
I used to draw/paint it. I have spent a LOT of time and energy on this and naturally I'm going to take some
offense to a photographer (who probably doesn't know anything about painting) claiming I'm a fake.

look at my other artwork. does it seem like I'm in the habit of trying to pass off filtered pics as paintings?
anyways, you really shouldn't make accusations like this if you're not 100% certain. its insulting.

here's the only other "proof" I have, short of sending you the original .psd file (which will never happen).
