Thank you very much so for this tutorial Gaige; I do think that this will be very useful since I'm still learning SFM.

I find this truly helpful... I might use this kind of lighting technique (if that's alright with you ) for Flashbacks, and/or dreams etc... for a FNAF series I am working on for youtube :3

Even as someone who knew things before i even began, some of these stuffs were totally unknown for me and i didn't even understand what they do/ how they can make the pic look soooo much better!
Absolutely helpful. Thank you so much for doing this!

Thanks, but I didn't use Blender to make this. I used Source Filmmaker.Β Β

What you gotta do is get the GMAD extractor and get them from the Gmod workshop if they're not yet in the SFM one, but if you mean anything else, I'll most likely be able to help with it.

People tell me to do lighting tutorials... or any tutorials really, but there just isn't one magical formula.
In addition to the things you say here, I also tell people that 99% of the time the shadowAtten needs to be zero, and lights should not be full white.
Glad you mentioned rim lighting here though.
Volumetrics and gobos and ubers are also really important, but not required for good lighting

Yeah, I tried to go over all the basics I go around when I work with lights. Hopefully the tutorial pays off though lol. I worked around 3 hours on it, even though it's so simple. .-.

Very instructive xD

Will definitely put this on my list of helpful things~
There's lots of settings I've never tested since I'm still relatively new to SFM and I never have time to make posters since I've gotten a bit better. But this is interesting. I've never tested the radius before, and I just started using aperture. I must use all I know in my big poster! Thanks for this! It was even entertaining~

That's a great tutorial.
Except for one little thing-- you didn't show the settings you had in the picture right before last, so I have absolutely no clue what to set it to in case I want to shamelessly steal your style.

Oh, those were the same as the ones above, I only let it process in the clip editor. The radius setting is what gives it that soft look.
