The sailboat looks like the icing strawberry on the cake.Β I like the proportions creating the feeling of distance.Β

With the little distortion of the hot air it almost looks like floating above the water ... and we can even imagine the other side of the bay ....

Thanks a lot, Joel. It seems that the picture actually "transports" a little of the original atmosphere on that day ...

Yes, it seems to be a very dreary day atmospherically; which is refreshing to see.

It was sort of unearthly for an April day at the Atlantic Ocean They have their sails up just for the paying guests

Unearthly images are the ones that contain the most magic; just like this one.

The boat does pop out...and seems to be added...did you adjust the color of the overall background (everything except the boat)?
This is a dramatic and beautiful image, Ulrich.....not criticizing, I am just curious....

EintoeRn In reply to Harry-E-Hooper [2013-07-11 05:02:11 +0000 UTC]
Well, certainly SOMEONE put it there, but not me, Harry
Basically no adjustment of color, sea and sky of the same light blue on a windless day. Horizon being only visible by the distant, blurred coastline on the far side of the bay ...
Very much like on this one: [link]
Sails on the boat are just a show-off for the day guests I guess

is it me or it looks like a 3 D model constructed in wood? (sky included)
i love it when an image seems to be not what it is.
specially that i know you never cheat

yes it is not an obvious thing to obtain at this distance. but what i like most is the flattening effect of the tones. the very limited shades of Grey works perfectly for me

yes. of course. much better than the original blue, of course. one of these days with a very strange and very calm atmosphere. and actually quite hot for a day in april at the Atlantic ...

oh i was just talking about working the images, texturing or pushing the editing to the limits. i do this often with my own images, but you have another approach.
i'm not being overly severe with myself, i enjoy the playing and often, the result.
