I think you're confused about how phylogenetic bracketing works.

Yes, I do. Just because someone understands something does not mean they are convinced.

Do you also find it ridiculous when dinosaurs are shown as being colorful since pigment cells don't fossilize very well? Should we assume they're colorless since we have no direct evidence of colors? Would you assume a fossilized mammal is bald because its fur didn't preserve?

Well at least your theory is better than everyone else who came up with this idea. However I did notice once that they once found dinosaur skin but I don't remember what dinosaur it came from.

First of all, this is an amazing artwork! And about the Land Before Time which is even better It is always really, really awesome seeing people draw LBT characters in a more realistic than cartoonish way. Chomper's parents look like real T-rex', you drew them very, very well! But what about Chomper? I'm no expert but to me he rather looks like a fastbiter here just with shorter arms
Still looking pretty impressive though
I think this one of even a bit better than the drawing of the main five you once did

Good realistic style but as far as accuracy goes your pretty far off with Chomper.

Accuracy how? I made him a subadult tyrannosaur with proportions to match. Do you mean inaccurate to his character or to a subadult tyrannosaur? He has feathers with the assumption that they lose them later in life.

Well it's mainly his snout. I think you made it a bit too elongated for a Tyrannosaurus but that's just my opinion.

I based it on a model by David Krentz, but it could still be slightly long looking. Here's the model - s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/7…

It goes along the lines of Jack Horner's theory that immature dinosaurs looked drastically different from their adult forms, not just smaller versions.
