Description *Collapses into a pile* This boi... took so much detailing... I'm so happy with the result though and I hope y'all like him too TTwTT
Xylar's clothed and unclothed art was actually sketched out around November, and it took up until now for me to actually finish him asjdhasjk Mostly cus he has a game to play in now. First time playing a monk, woo!

As usual, let's talk a lil about him~
Like it says on his sheet there, Xylar wasn't always a Myconid. He was originally a human named Xavier Collins, the wizard assistant to a necromancer. He was only a beginner with magic, just learning how to animate the dead. Necromancers though aren't exactly the most well liked of people though, and his mentor was actually killed by guards sent to execute them. Xavier ran off from the guards and was chased down through a cavern to the underdark during his escape. This would however prove to be a fatal error though, as he tripped over a rock in the darkness and went tumbling down a cliff to his death...

Of course, that wasn't the end for our dear necromancer. He landed in a patch of growing myconids, mushroom-like folk that live within the underdark. Through the mercy of Yot, god of the myconids, he was given a second chance at life, having his soul transferred into the body of one of the newly growing shrooms. His body however didn't assimilate quick enough, and his cap instead ended up growing around it, preserving it alongside his new body. Many of his memories were lost in the process unfortunately, including most of his knowledge on how to perform spells... However, he decided to make the best of it however, as a new form meant new abilities. Deciding to try something new and absolutely not used to the slow nature of Myconids, he took up training as a monk, mixing his new knowledge of martial arts with his previous knowledge of necromancy. He doesn't admit it to many people, but... he does miss many things that came from being human, above all, his ability to write. His new fingers are much too spindly to hold a pen properly now, and his acidic touch leaves horrible marks on paper.

While the elders of the colony took Xylar in as one of their own, sympathetic to his unintentional reincarnation, most other Myconids consider him to be... off. A complete outsider with no curtesy for their practices. They find Xylar's insistence to be clothed very strange, and the body still present on his cap to be a little more than unnerving, swearing that it still moves sometimes. Not to mention, he is WAY too fast, his training as a monk already aiding him at moving at his old human speed and then some. (Most myconids move at a speed of 20ft, Xylar moves at 40ft)

Eventually, once his 5th year in the colony came, Xylar felt confident enough to finally venture out to explore the rest of the underdark. Just before he left, the elders presented him with a gift. A newly converted Wood Woad named Will to accompany Xylar on his journey and to aid as his scribe so that he could take notes again on everything he found. Additionally, since Myconids don't talk in a traditional manner, Will could translate things if need be. The two have become very close on their travels, becoming best pals.

As a character, Xylar is very friendly and curious, a far cry from his unnerving appearance. He loves nothing more than learning new things, about... anything really, it doesn't even have to relate to necromancy alone. He has a large gap of information in his head and he intends to refill it the best he can. He can seem a little unaware at times, and can be tone deaf to things that make others uncomfortable, but he genuinely means well.
That all being said... something is off. There are times in battle where he will get genuinely frightening, before reverting back to his normal disposition like nothing happened.

~~

He's been such a joy to play so far in his campaign and his dynamic with Will has been wonderful to see play out (It's got real Sam & Max vibes). Very excited to see just where he goes from here ^^
