Description
The Courts of Chaos is a bizarre realm of marble pillars, warped courtrooms, strange statues and endless hallways. The realm is bizarre to behold and even harder to understand. The halls are always filled with bumbling Chaos, walls open and close at random and the entire architecture of the place will twist, turn and rotate at a moment's notice. Navigating this confusing marble maze is difficult, and even making a map of the strange realm is straight up impossible. Outsiders who wind up in the courts will have quite the disorienting time as they travel through the shifting rooms and hallways. To aid this confusion, the Courts of Chaos will sometimes send a guide to help the lost traveler. The guides, however, don't show up for everyone, and there is no consistency in their criteria of who they select. Dimensional wanders, prisoners, accidental guests, invading warriors and practically everyone else who winds up in the Courts have a chance of receiving a guide. It doesn't even matter if the visiting party is hostile or not, a guide may show up and cheerfully direct them through the halls. Guides speak in a cheerful robotic voice, which says anything with an upbeat and announcing tone. These guides serve to lead their guests to the courtroom, where they will inevitably face trial, and probably a horrible death. How long such a trip takes is entirely up to the guide, however. Some may head straight to the courtroom, while some may wander about, showing off "sights" to their guests and explaining things that probably don't need to be said. What they even talk about is a mixed bag, as some may happily go on for hours over the significance and politics of a broken statue, while others may silently walk past some ungodly mechanism jutting through the marble walls. Whatever the guide does, or wherever they go, the guests are forced to follow. Crazed Guards will always be haunting about in the background, and they do not take kindly to those who ignore their appointed guides. So even if the guide does a 180 degree turn and walks in the direction you just came from, follow along.A strange thing with guides is that they do not seem to be the most stable creatures. This isn't saying much in a realm filled with Chaos, but they seem a bit more unhinged than the others. While they go about their tours, some guides may start experiencing "problems." Their robotic voices may start to crackle and get invaded by static, while they still go on like everything is normal. Some of their limbs may start to move on their own, writhing on their body as if they were trapped against their own will. Some guides can go through an entire tour without any troubles, while others may start to deteriorate at a frightening pace. There have been instances where guides have started to walk in circles, talking about "sights" and trivia that they aren't even close to. Others have frozen up and continually drone white noise from out of their mouths. In some terrifying cases, guides have had complete mental breakdowns, flailing and screeching about how much it hurts, how they just want to go home, how they want someone to help them just help them stop it stop it this isn't right let me out let me out this is ERROR ERROR make it stop ERROR help ERROR help I can't stop ERROR. In these cases, when guides breakdown and are incapable of fulfilling their duties, the Courts will suddenly and violently terminate them. Marble columns from the ceiling will slam down and crush them into a paste, or the walls around them may come together and reduce them to a wet stain. The floor may just give out, dropping them into oblivion, or a statue will come to life and awkwardly beat them to death. After the guide is terminated, the walls and floor will shift about to clean up the mess and pop out another happy guide. This guide will pick up right where the other left off, without missing a beat or acknowledging what happened.

Yes, they are a part of a series of pieces I have done about the Courts of Chaos. I have a few I posted, which you could find by searching "courts of chaos" in my gallery. I am happy that you like them!

Oh god, the tie around his "waist" gave me flashbacks to the style of the early 2000's...
I rather interesting character to say the least!

I think I blocked that style out of my mind. Don't need to remember that!
And thanks!

The true horror of the Court of Chaos is reminding us of our societies past mistakes (specifically in style sense)!
And your welcome!
