Description
Pokemon Black, oh the wonder.I'd had the game for a while and had played it all the way through multiple times and this was no exception as I deleted my previous game and booted it up once again.
Every single past time I had always picked Oshawott, as it was a cute little guy and had a pretty awesome evolution, as well. This time was going to be no exception as I spoke with Cheren and Bianca on my way to the gift box containing the three Pokemon.
Once I opened up the selection screen, I stopped. I should try something new! I thought, biting my lip. I'd run through the game with a Grass type- that would be the second time, the only time before being in Pokemon Diamond where I picked Turtwig, which was my favorite out of the three.
So, I selected Snivy, just for the heck of it. I got ready to battle Cheren and Bianca and out popped the Snivy. I blinked, seeing the stars whirl around the Snivy and hearing the shiny sound play.
I placed the Nintendo on the table and proceeded to dance around the room in complete joy.
When I was done with my Shiny Parade, I returned to the game and opened up the Fight selection, ready to whoop some rival booty. I was surprised to find that there were three moves, the normal two and one other...
Shine.
Shrugging, I selected Shine. It seemed interesting and maybe it would be a helpful glitch (if it was a glitch)... that, or it could wipe out my game and make me lose my shiny.
The screen read 'Snivy used Shine!' and the screen lit up so brightly that I had to squint. The light quickly died down and the screen read 'Foe's Oshawott was blinded!' I looked at the Oshawott and its eyes seemed to be scrunched up in pain, but I shrugged it off.
'Foe's Oshawott used Tackle! Foe's Oshawott missed!' The words at the bottom of the screen read, but the animation of the tackle still played. The Oshawott threw itself towards the Snivy and failed, the screen reading 'It hurt itself in its confusion!'
I had no recollection of it ever becoming confused, but I commanded the Snivy to use Tackle over and over until the Oshawott had fainted. Every Tackle from the opposing side had been missed and Snivy came through without a scratch on him.
The same thing happened with Cheren's Tepig and the game continued until we reached my character's mother, who started to heal our Pokemon.
"Cheren, Bianca, your Pokemon seem to be stumbling about like they can't see..." I was surpised to read at the bottom of the screen. I had never seen that before in the game and to be honest, it made me kind of nervous. I shrugged it off like I had last time and continued in the game.
I was on the way through the grass to Accumula, catching Pokemon for the contest. I used Shine because it seemed useful, keeping them from attacking until I could catch them, but when I caught the first Pokemon that I used Shine on it said 'Lillipup was transferred to Box 1!' This puzzled me. I didn't have any Pokemon in my party but the Snivy... maybe it was a glitch? Oh well, no time to worry about it now.
TheΒ Β same thing happened with every other Pokemon that I used Shine on, though I didn't make the connection until a long time later. I figured that I'd just have to transfer them from the box to my party as soon as I got done with the tour.
Well, I got done with the stupid tour of the Pokemon Center and opened up the box. I grabbed a Lillipup and put it in my party, but a message popped up. 'Lillipup cannot fight!' It said.
I shook my head, wondering if I was having some crazy messed up dream or something, but closed the box and left, still having a party of one Pokemon.
I continued through the game and fought Cheren once more. To my surprise, he didn't have his Tepig with him. I used Shine on the first Pokemon and it had the same effect that it did normally. I continued to beat the Pokemon to a pulp until I got to the last one. I selected Shine again, but a message popped up.
'NO, STOP IT!' It said, and the opposing Pokemon returned to its Pokeball and Cheren's sprite jumped forward, apparently getting hit with the Shine instead. 'MY EYES!' the message at the bottom read.
I blinked, wondering what was going on. The fight ended and Cheren stood there, not moving. I was ready to head back to town, but another message popped up. '... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...'
The suspense was killing me.
'... ... ... ... You monster.' It read, and then closed.
I quickly to proceeded to get the heck out of there and head back to town, still confused about what was going on.
I checked the Snivy's summary to see what was going on and a message popped up.
'Do you like the move Shine?' It asked.
That simple question made it click in my mind.
I selected 'NO' without a second thought on the matter.
'... ... ... ... ... ... ... Why have you been using it all of this time, then? Why have you been blinding innocent Pokemon? Forcing ME to blind innocent Pokemon and people?'
I realized that it was Snivy talking through the messages.
'I don't enjoy it. I just did it because you were my trainer. I'm done with it!'
Dark battle music started to play, much like the battle with Ghetsis near the end of the game. My trainer sprite was on my side, and the shiny Snivy was on the opposing side.
'Snivy used Shine!'
The screen lit up so bright that I had to cover my eyes...
And then the screen went black.
Nothing moved. I tried everything, pressing start, moving up and down, pressing A, pressing B... it didn't work.
'...'
The message box scared the crap out of me.
'... ... ...'
The dots continued to appear.
'... How do YOU...'
The words were getting fainter, as if the world was fading.
'...like living in shadows?' and the screen blackened completely.

Very nice. It was much longer than the last one, but to me, the other one had much more frightening properties to me. Still, good job
