The cast of LISA is certainly very colorful - I feel it's very unique, but I hear a lot of Blade Runner references. I ain't never watched Blade Runner, ain't never read Dune, and don't know the damndest thing about either. I guess it is for me, whatever the real case. They would all be superdepressing real folks, though.
I'm ok with bloopy, though the amount of "terror" that could be inspired in me is probably minimal if that's the case. I played System Shock 2, and I'm hard pressed to think of anything bloopier than System Shock 2. God if that game isn't silly and ugly. Still fun in its way, though. I'm digressing; If I'm going to play the later Silent Hills I'd much rather play the first one first, can at least have a bit of a grounding. Maybe I'm weird like that. And for whatever reason, though I am easily grossed out by realblood, video game blood does not bug me. The silly giblets in Dishonored, the weird-glistening meat-chunks in Fallout, the fact that I could remove limbs with shotguns in FEAR and Singularity (I forgot the name of Singularity and was scrolling through my Steam game list and the fella next to me on this train was like "0-0 jeeze m8 you have a lot of games" Awkwardness HO) Video game gore I am fine with now. You might go into Earthbound knowing slightly more, but it didn't feel like Earthbound was coming off the heels of another game. In fact, the only reason I know it is because of this girl named Leah who said "I was trying to figure out whether I should play MOTHER first," which indicates that there's a game in the Earthbound series BEFORE Earthbound. Ain't that the damndest thing?
I think that's where the disconnect starts for me. The combat's a big parta the games - though neither Undertale nor OFF have the same Earthbound-gameplay style. Go figure.

It's been awhile since I played Alan Wake, but I don't think of it much. Which is weird because I liked a lot of the scenes in it. It felt distinct, even though it's I'M A WRITER MY WIFE IS MISSING THERE IS SO MUCH DARKNESS for a plot. I guess the tropes were used well though. Y'ever play American Nightmare? Oddly, my experience with Alan Wake is very similar. I remember Barry, and I remember the weird cabin with the crazy people, and I remember that all of the major villains were sucked up by the darkness before Alan could confront them, robbing him of any significant character development in dealing with them. The end sequence was weird, something to do with an alternate universe and shining your flashlight on words to make them appear? :L

pfffff Yes that is my basic concept of D&D. I've heard interesting stories stemming from it but, egh. I think my main problem with the Asgore fight, which is my favorite fight in Undertale, is that I didn't feel bad when I went up to fight Asgore. He's just some dude. I don't have any investment in his issues, his character, nothing.
