Description "The core principle of freedom, is the only notion to obey"
Gateways, by Dimmu Borgir

This song I hear when I imagine this scene:
Metal version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PrzU_O… (from 0.17 - 0.45
Orchestral version: www.youtube.com/watch?v=_ufVyY… (from: 0.47 - 1.17)

My white Norwegian siderian Stian (official name: Stygian Stígandr Sætensen) fighting his way to his 'paradise'...where he's free from the species that has filled his heart with hate, fear and revenge - meaning our species.
See here more about him and his background:

Siderians are horse-sized felines with some metaphysical powers. They are a hybrid between a Siamese cat, tiger and a lynx. However Stian looks mostly like a Siamese-tiger hybrid.
So siderians are CATS and NOT WOLVES/DOGS ...sorry but it still seems necessary - which I simply can't believe

About the animation - I have used Adobe Photoshop CS2 and Adobe ImageReady CS2.
It's a 10 frames of Stian running in left-leading-rotary gallop (the left front leg comes as last on the ground and is therefore the leading one - yes Stian is left-handed).

These are the references I have used:
* A hunting tigress in rotary gallop; main reference: www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXvxCv… (at 3.00)
*A tiger in left lead transverse gallop- but useful for the hair www.youtube.com/watch?v=GnZcAJ…
* Thoroughbred horse for the movement of the hair: www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQDAUv…
* Slow motion of a running cat - mainly for the tail which stays remarkably constant: www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYom2w…

© Siderian species and character Stian by me. Please don't copy and/or use it without my permission!!!

The work is smooth and oustanding, especially considering the fur! I also really appreciate the in-depth description.

I really appreciate your way of not having all your characters spayed, but visibly male. Adds a certain point of realism.

FelisGlacialis In reply to Eiswolfnet [2016-01-07 13:11:46 +0000 UTC]

Thanks! Yeah fully agreed. I find it really strange that nearly all canine male characters (even the most cartoony ones) are provided with super obvious genitals, while nearly all feline male characters seem to be neutered. This would be a great insult to my characters, so I draw them completely - including their precious parts XD

Amazing animation. The background and details on both background and Stian is well balanced; this could easly be used in any movie you wanted it to use it for. There seems to be a smaller speed-jump in in the animation on the tail-furr when it goes down after it goes up - the transition could be slightly smoother- but otherwise stunning animation

Ahhh, your species are beautiful a fascinating to look at!  Fantastic animation, I can see you have really worked out every bit of their anatomy, and very well executed here!

FelisGlacialis In reply to Sidonie [2015-01-27 11:29:45 +0000 UTC]

Thanks a lot for the comment! Yes, anatomy has always interested me and I want to make my species appear as natural and realistic as possible. I have some vague plans of making another animation of the same character walking towards you- just to show his typical tiger-like movements. I remember I have seen your art too- really great work!

i have lessened to the  Dimmu Borgir  suggestion that you linked, i have to say you really do have good taste in music ... even thou black metal is int really my thing  (general Death Metal, Metallica and Seether is is my rock nose... the rest is just  classical music. )

i seen your work before and i want to go and say, how in heavens name have gotten soo good at a very very complicated animation, sure it is a little ruff, but if i tried to animate something with that detailed (or animate it at all),you will literally only see a white fluffy mass running on endless melted ice cream with only brown dots as jewelry.

in long story short, you have gotten some (f***ing Great and) wicked talent, if a thousands of years from now went archaeologists find the long lost Deviant Art memory chips, the first Graphic Arts Masters Category and first artwork to be shown will most likely be your art work.

Thanks a lot for your motivating comment! That is always nice to hear. This animation took me a logn time and I used al ot of examplea to learn of. I'm sure you can make it too I'm sorry if I can't answer on your other comments. I've read them and  appreciate it to hear such nice motivating comments but I'm in some sort of time-crisis so I have no time to talk a lto on DA.

Yeah indeed - it's difficult to find some time for hobbies. I'm slooooowly working on ToM - the new pages will be two extra on the prologue, approx 5 extra pages at the beginning of chapter 1 and I've the first five pages of chapter two already finished - I hope to be back with ToM in November/December...probably later than I promised first.

haha thats ok beautiful creatures what ever they are. I wish they were real! One question.. if they did meet a human being, what would they do? Would they attack or do something else?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

FelisGlacialis In reply to 123animalcrazy [2013-09-07 21:32:08 +0000 UTC]

That is highly dependent on the previous experience cheederians have had with humans. Since humans are a pretty aggressive species (see the massive amount of other animals, specially predators, we have killed....) - I don't exclude that humans hunt cheederians as well... which would make cheederians aggressive towards humans too.  This character- Stian- would run away in the first case but if he's well armoured he kills every human he meets - maybe with one exception - but that is part of a story I still have to develop. Anyway there are cheederians, like Noiro (see gallery somewhere) that would prefer a peaceful coexistence with humans. Some cheeds would find it interesting and would try to speak with humans, but in times of 'war' most cheederians have a rather negative attitude towards humans...which humans unfortunately have created themselves...just look at the reality...

Please tell me why the hell you even think about wolves and why you don't see this as a 100% feline. I can ensure you that everything fits in the feline anatomy and there is nothing - really nothing- canine.

Read the description and learn how felids+canids look. He's a tiger-Oriental cat mix: 100% feline. NO dog wolf/influence!!!!!!!!!!!!!
