ASSIGNMENT THREE

Armada was having a difficult time responding to and listening to Azzie all morning. As a result he was incredibly worked up and fighting the bit despite her attempts to calm him down. Giving up Azzie resorted to isolating the jittery stallion from the rest of the outlaws, finding that the more space between him and the herd the calmed he became. The calm would not last forever, though, nothing ever does. Just as Armada was beginning to relax and listen to Azzie a loud boom rocketed the canyon, echoing violently. Startled Armada bolted, wild-eyed, and screaming. Coatl leapt after the spotted nordanner, yipping and ducking falling rocks and flying hooves. All Azzie could do was point him in the right direction and hang on as rocks and dirt slid, violently, down around them. She screamed, burying her face into her stallions mane and clung to him as he charged through the tumultuous land slide. Her heart was racing, adrenaline pouring through her body and she knew Armada was not faring any better. It was turning out the Outlaw Trail was more stressful on the recovering stallion than she had expected it to be.

Seconds later the only thing left to the air was a silence that burned in the fading echoes of the explosion. Dust settled slowly and Azzie stared around them. Somehow somehow Armada had managed to get them on the right side of the landslide. Sweaty and terrified Armada stood, fidgetting and chewing the bit, he eyed the fallen rocks dubiously before snorting and trotting away from them. The stallion felt the more space he put between himself and the rocks the better. . . .
