Description
"A Smurf Adventure (not) by Peyo"I have long been a fan of the Smurfs. I have read all the original comic books and saw some episodes of the cartoon (of varying quality).
Yeah, I saw the movie. It's not that great. Let's not talk about it, okay?
Long-time fans of the Smurf comics have wondered about the origins of the Smurfs: They seem mostly genderless and are referred as male simply because it is the "default/generic" gender (this is our society...). The female Smurfs were created magically and do not count.
So where do the Smurfs come from?
I found this website ( [link] ) where a guy tries to give a reasonable explanation:
The Smurfs as we know them are actually "freaks" from another race, where there are Smurfs of both distinct genders.
"Our" Smurfs are born featureless/genderless and thus are sent away to a faraway village to be far away from the original Smurfs who hate them. They are taken care of by Papa Smurf.
When a Smurf is hatless, he is shown as bald, which I consider as a sign of his "difference".
By the way, I found out too late that my cover has similarities with the "La Menace Schtroumpf"'s (The Smurf Menace), where evil clones of the Smurfs attack their village. That story was disappointing and wasted the potential of meeting other hostile Smurfs; here they are just evil magical clones to be disposed off. We mustn't break the status quo for the kiddies! Bah!
But there was an interesting bit: The story did suggest that there might be other real Smurfs out there.
But I digress! Here Grumpy Smurf (the very first Smurf we met in the comic book series) is chained and exposed as a freak to the Original Smurfs!

You are right! The comics are better. Although most of the modern ones are not very good.

Actually, it doesn't exist... I only imagined this cover. But maybe I can create the comic, although I don't think I could sell it due to copyright reasons.

Oh,it's only a cover? A little shame, because the idea is amazing. After all being an adult I like to watch and read stories in which m childhood heroes grows up. For example "Of Mice And Mayhem" about Rescue Rangers. It's for free to read.

"Of Mice And Mayhem" is awesome. Yeah, if I made it, it'd be in the same way.

Yeah, I've had this idea from a fun little website that also tried to explain how the Smurfs could be blue... in a scientific manner!

I seem to remember a scene in the feature film The Smurfs and The Magic Flute (U.S. Title) where a Smurf tips its hat off to some birds whose nest they relocated from a tree from which they needed the wood to create a magical flute to help Johann and Pewitt combat an invading army, indications that Smurfs are indeed "bald".

Clin d'oeil? Le thème du héros enchaîné est classique.
Merci.

Ah, tiens, c'est vrai, tu as bien raison!
