Description
Here is an Exersise Routine for all those with shaky hands. It was taught to me durring my training as a tattoo artist,
I knoticed a marked improvment in my line control after practice for a few weeks.
Practice drawing this way, and soon you will have smooth and steady lines.

Lets say I want smoother strokes when I'm using my tablet without having to damn-near slash the surface. Could this help me make smooth strokes slowly?

it improves muscle control for smoother strokes. This is a technique used by tattoo artists to create perfect straight lines in one smooth movement. The more muscle control you have, the better your lines.
If you are pressing too hard, you can also try loosing your grip and drawing from the shoulder/elbow instead of wrist. you should grip your pencil lightly.

Came across this while looking up weighted lines and I too have shaky hand but I got to ask... What do I use for weight for my pencil?

anything that you can find. I have seen folks use playdough, bolts, marbles, anything that you can tape, bolt or rubberband to the pen.

I looked in the tutorials section for something like this, but I...did not expect to actually find one.
Cool!
I'll have to try this.
Metal fittings from a hardware store, you say? All right, but I think I'd better bring the picture, too.
It'll help with getting steady hands overall, right? So I can use it to get better at photoshopping, along with traditional drawing?

I really need this. But, I have a metal powerball, a handgyro, and it does wonders for my drawing and painting. If I use it a minute or two before starting to draw or paint, I get much better lines or brush strokes. I use different grips during usage, with the open side pointing up and straight out as well as the classical down. And I make it spin evenly both directions in all grips. (One of the directions is always harder in the beginning.)

Thanks for making this! I've been using it for a few weeks, and my drawings are a lot cleaner, even in such a short time.
I took one of those mini PlayDoh cups, threw out the clay, and filled it with pebbles for my weight. Works like a charm. : D

Go to your local hardware store and bring your pen/pencil. I recomend you get a variety of washers and use a small pipe band to secure them. That is the least expensive and fastes way to get started.
Hope that helps

I really have a clue where I can find little weights that fit in top of my pencil.......
Do you have an idea how I can improvise this?

GenoPunk In reply to Kailash-LostFayth [2005-10-31 00:27:57 +0000 UTC]
stop by the hardware store and see about getting some bolts and washers, and 2 fittings that will lock the ends on place.
shouldn't be too expensive or hard to build.

that is nice. A bit light for the full workout, but ti should add some nice counterweight when drawing.
good job.

you must make them yourself at the moment. Try you local hardware store for supplies that might work.
