[link]

Just 4 steps, to render in B&W using just 1 layer. I hope this could be of a little help

I gonna shot some more basic tutorials in the future, in few quick steps.

download for big size tutorial

----------------
Version en español
----------------

1.-Sktech Rapido

This tutorial was key for me finally getting to grips with this more realistic colouring style for my latest work 'LLAMAGEDDON'. Before now all I could manage if I tried smoothing out colours was smudgy looking cell-shading. This combined with gradient maps and I finally nailed it. Many thanks GENZOMAN, keep up the great work. I do enjoy every time you release a new piece.

I get a little lost with the adding texture (frame 3) and the transition from frame 3 to 4. How would you add the texture and smoothen the edges?

That looks awesome for 5 minutes! Looks like your process works out very well.

Could you elaborate on step 3 any more? I'm not entirely clear on what you mean by, "a brush or a texture in overlay/multiply layer mode".

Really cool, mate. Really! I was actually thinking of starting some silly, basic projects in order to get the hang of my Bamboo (using it atm just to get rid of the mouse experience and help me get a more natural control of it, before I actually start drawing images). Got tired of being a code writer for a living, need to expand my expertise field.

Thanks!

Would you mind specifying brush settings for the shadows and highlights? Like what opacity percentage, flow percentage, type of brush?

Thanks

This may sound like a really random question but what is the name of the font that you used for the steps/ instructions? I'm very curious to know as I have seen it used in various comic books and mangas.

well, gotta put this to practice... time to stop trying to do more than sketching and lineart in SAI, and use a more versatile tool.

What are the advantages of starting from the dark and light tones to create than the opposite?

I ask because I seem to see on deviantart that most of the authors of tutorials first create the shades of the base and then add the shadows.

how do you think?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GENZOMAN In reply to CarloValente [2009-11-23 03:17:40 +0000 UTC]

well, in the basic, all is dark. when you turn on the lights on a room, the light give shape to the objects.

in the same way, is more easy give light to the shadows than give shadows to the light (a white canvas)
