Sigh... I never meant to take this long to put the next page up. Sometimes I just... struggle with finding the right thing to talk about next, and the right way to say it, and a new pose for Bubbles, and... gah! Just—sorry!
That said, I always try to put a little curve in the legs whenever they're in a casual position. It helps the eye see which way the leg (and thus the body) is facing.
"Visual ambiguity" refers to when the brain doesn't get enough information to tell how it should interpret something. A good example would be an optical illusion like this:
Adding that leg curvature helps avoid this confusion. The brain sees what we want it to, without having to focus on resolving any ambiguity, letting it soak in the drawing as a whole.
Not all visual ambiguity is bad, though; some companies put in a lot of effort to make their text/graphics logos look like two things at once.
Next I'll talk about the arms—they do much the same thing, but the rounder side indicates the elbow/wrist.

Wonder what Buttercup looks like in a green thong bikini, GeoffNET .
Would she be doing butt-shot poses?

You know, Buttercup would look great in a TIGHT two piece bikini. She would model her BEHIND. THAT would be funny!

Ahurrdeehurr, it's the next one!
Also a nice fact, or maybe I missed it in some of the previous pages it has been a long time since I read through them ajlksqf
is that the arms don't necessarely have to be connected to the body. Especially when you're going for more dynamic poses.
Great work so far! This is really helpful, even for older ppg artists like me who have been in the fandom for a while now.

A very good tip! I'll remember to use that when I talk about the arms over the next couple pages. Thanks!
Thank you But if anyone gets to say they're an old PPG artist it's me.

Oh wow. Forgot about this. XD
..Is it just me or are Bubbles's pigtails...slightly smaller?

GeoffNET In reply to RyanSilberman [2014-05-21 05:16:04 +0000 UTC]
The little "flicks" at the ends of the pigtails are less sharp, but their size is the same. I did play around a bit with the different line thicknesses, and her eyes are spaced further apart than usual. That might be it.
