Description Read Part 1 ([link] ) before reading this, or else you won't know what the dickens I'm writing about.

Apologies in advance for the atrocious handwriting. That's what happens when you write these things on a moving bus.

As always, questions are more than welcome.

Are you going to publish these tutorials in book form? They're really good.

Not anytime soon. Sorry.

Well, I hope you do eventually. If you target the fantasy/sword-and-sorcery crowd, it would be a great success, I think.

I'm no Glenn Fabry or Finlay Cowan, that's for sure.

Thats really interesting! I used to draw like that too... since I started digital art tho everything changed... my first few lines are all the highlights on the figure I draw, no outline or frame anymore.

Wow. I've never heard of that method before.

ya ~ but dont tell my art teachers, they'd start frothing at the thought that you can actually draw like that but it works

one good memorisable hint my art teacher gave me, is to think of the muscles after knees and elbows, which go to the wrists or feet, is to remember the shape of cartoon chicken leg. You know, those brown ones

GH-MoNGo In reply to Meitti [2006-10-18 12:02:46 +0000 UTC]

That works...

Don't worry about the handwriting; at least for my sake. I have grown up with bad handwriting and have only recently begun concerted efforts to ensure some kinda clarity. As a result of many years of screwing up the so-called right way to write, I can more easily read the messy handwriting. Strange but useful.

Thanks for doing these, by the way. I only draw occasionally but would like to work in a more realised fashion.

do you really draw the "frane" when ur drawing something...I for one just draw it directly, no frame no nothing...and if something isn't right, I erase and mend it....

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GH-MoNGo In reply to Corsico [2006-10-16 21:51:05 +0000 UTC]

Initially, yes, but I do it in light pencils so it's easier to erase.

Nice tutorial again - especially the bit about contraction and expansion, which a lot of people can forget about.
My only criticism is that the examples are all from the front and this tutorial in particular may have benifited from a side or back view. And maybe a mention for the startling effects of gravity.
Great work though, it covers the basics well.

wow.... this is very diffrent from my figure construction methord

don't worry my hand writing is worse than that even when I'm sitting still

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

GH-MoNGo In reply to Mortis-of-midian [2006-10-15 23:43:22 +0000 UTC]

There isn't really a "right" or "wrong" way to do it, though. Some people just feel more comfortable with certain techniques than others.
