Description Part one of a series of tutorials about figure construction. Hopefully this will lead into the muscular anatomy tutorial that everyone has been drooling over. Patience, folks... I know this stuff may seem really boring right now, but I can't emphasize how important it really is when it comes to drawing the figure.

There is still some debate about how many heads tall one should make the average adult figure. I've heard anywhere between seven and eight heads tall. Eight heads is what the ancient Greeks used for their statues, though, so those proportions are very much idealized.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Yeah that's probably why.

I tend to draw arms a bit long anyway. Like everything else I do nowadays, I did this on a bus, so I didn't have access to a ruler.

But it's only for humans, right?

No, it works for other things too. Actually, it goes for any kind of bi-pedal humanoid figure (i.e. anything that walks like a person on two legs).

This is also perfect for this Warforged from D&D I've been "drawing" for about 4 months The only problem is I kind of gave up on it 3 months ago...heh...

Yep.

For fat or fleshy figures, you would need to make them slightly wider at the waist in order for all of that mass to fit on the figures.
