This was also created ~5 years ago (per the description), and is an admitted crappy work that I didn't spend much effort on. Then, there were very few blank polar maps of Antarctica with a limited color palette on Google Images, so I simply downloaded one of the best and converted it into 256-colors using Paint (I don't know if I had Corel or Paint.net yet). That accounts for the noisy lines and text.
At a slightly later date (or maybe even then), I could have constrained the blank map to a strict B+W palette with a threshold set on Paint.net or Corel, or simply redrawn the map using layers, but ehh... By that time, I knew of Antarctica's basal topography, and my climate projections for a "terraformed" Antarctica had become slightly cooler, so just recreating the map would have been stupid.
