people say they like the older one... but the new one is just sooooooo stunning!

The first one has a brighter and more fantasy-like atmosphere whilst the second has a dark and eerie atmoshpere. So while both have the same forest situation, both are very different in nature.
(That probably made no sense at all, but do you understand me? 
In my opinion, also, I would rather the before painting rather than the after painting as the after seems to have a bit too much detail that I lose myself a bit in it whereas the before painting allows me to take it all it.
Sorry...
But both are really great in shading and such, so good job!

I prefer the before painting BECAUSE it is less detailed. the after is so detailed that you kinda get lost in it.

I like them both as well. the style is really different so its hard to compare them. the first one looks calm and happy and the second one looks quite sinister. the second one is more detailed though and i can tell you got better

One looks realistic; one looks cartoony! It is more like you mastered another style! 8D WOW! I almost expect the right one to be used in a detailed Little red riding Hood booklet!

I like both of them! I just wouldn't really consider this a "redraw", you know, because the new one is quite different from the old one.
The old one looks like an oil painting and it's more clean, gives an emotion of peace and shows nature's beauty, while the new one is a little creepier, with the trees and the brush strokes. It gives you a feeling that something might jump from between the twisted trunks, albeit the old one almost feels like a scene from a dream.
Either way, amazing job on both of them!

I like the old one better somehow. It feels cleaner, the new one seems to have too many lines and the eye gets lost easily

You were already nice on the first one :3 it just looks like you rendered a little more on the second and changed the scenery... It is difficult to improve if you were good already <3
