Description
My little SSS Valdemar needed some more lovin', so I decided to make this. :3 I was going for a similar look to the famous Argentinus photo that I've always adored. Also, don't judge me that this is my first shaded drawing in about a billion years!
Valdemar had always been a bit of an avant-garde Knabstrupper, with his less than traditional coloring, above average athleticism, and grand stature; he definitely stuck out of the crowd. When a press conference was released notifying the public that he was being permanently retired from stud services - several years after he had been retired from sport -, a farewell ceremony was organized to be held at a local international competition, during the halftime of the prestigious Grand Prix class. Along with dramatic spotlighting, an over-the-top Danish flag draped over his back, and a magnificent in-hand trot tour, it was easy to predict the standing ovation that the elderly stallion received before exiting the stadium that night.
The news also rekindled general interest in the aging stud and, in a last "hoorah" of collection season, a vast majority of his straws were reserved or purchased beforehand, a fairly unheard of occurrence in the niche Knabstrupper circles. Only a few now remain, which are being sold sparingly to reputable breeders (who have been rumored to further dilute their doses, which is thankfully possible due to Valdemar's great motility and concentration.)

Awwwww; lovely to see more of this handsome old boy! Especially loving the shading and overall finish to this piece - it all works brilliantly.
