Description
& Present to you:Unity for Rainmeter V3.0
Update 25-03-2011: Fixed HDD2 displaying HDD1 label, fixed a typo in the readme ([link] )
Whilst version 2.0 was a huge improvement above 1.0, people wanted more, they wanted widgets!
Well you asked for it and you got it!
I started making some widgets myself, when I came across the Faenza widgets of ~Col-Darby .
So I send him a PM and asked if he felt something for Collaborating for V3.0, and he told me that he started those widgets as a tribute to the Unity bar!
And so it happened, using dropbox to sync the code development started, and now it's done, we're proud to present you V3.0 of Unity for Rainmeter!
You thought we would stop there? You couldn't be further from right, we also included the beloved stacks, customizable backgrounds, text and a dropshadow!
IMPORTANT: If you are running version 2.0 already, it is possible to update it to 3.0 using the included instructions.
Updating from 1.0 to any version is not supported. (To much changes).
For those using V1.0 or those not using it at all, the .rmskin is included in the archive for easy installation.
Update 20-03-11 20:20 (GMT): If you are planning to update 2.0, download the archive again, due to a mistake you would still lose your settings, this is fixed now!
What's new?
*For the gear icon hover the bottom right of the bar, it will show up.

Nice and easy to use. Would be interesting to have to possibility to put the bar on the top, the bottom or the right side of the screen. I haven't found anything in the config or in the Edit skin possibilities. Any advice?
Thanks for that nice skin! Awesome!

Currently this isn't possible, main reasons: It would require almost an entire rewrite of the code and the original Unity is left side use only too.
I'm currently thinking about making a right side version, but I feel more for completing or at least continuing on my blueprint project.
Yet this would take allot of time, I'm approaching the final weeks of this semester, and it's my final year so exams coming up.
But I've had some contact with ~dpcdpc11 , the guy behind Maverick for Win7, and he said he wasn't too pleased with the vertical one (he doesn't like 2 bars in different directions touching), and he had an idea of a horizontal one. I recommended him to wait for the release of this skin, so who knows

Thank you so much for your response.
In any case, you can be proud of what you've made.
I'm sure the result of your exams will be as good as what you've realized here

That varies... A fresh start of rainmeter, including other skins takes up about 15 Mb, on every refresh of a skin rainmeter will actually load the skins again, but keeps the old skins in the memory, so memory usage will grow...
After lots of editing, changing settings and shit it was up to 44 Mb, but since you don't refresh the skin 100 times a day and stuff, it will be about 15-20 Mb on average. Where Windows sidebar takes 25 Mb by default, even with just 2 small things running, Rainmeter is able to do allot more than that.
Anyway my config is ~400Kb, looking at the memory increase on refresh. Which is nothing.

Thanks so much for the detailed explanation. Your Unity skin is magnificent and and the memory use with Rainmeter is really nice, specially since I wont have to use Objectdock or Rocketdock while using Unity.
Keep the good job going my friend and thanks so much for sharing your creativity with us.

You're welcome. I prefer this in combination with my taskbar too. Docks always get me frustrated on the long term, because of the way they work, or because they get in the way of my other stuff. This one doesn't do that at all. And indeed, the best thing off course is that the software is multi-functional.

is there a way to get back from 40MB to 400Kb ?

I guess you misunderstood me. 40Mb is only reached when you refresh the skin ALLOT of times, like I did today, normally you would have an average of about 20 mb. So you can't bring it back to 400 kb, since the skin still needs the Rainmeter engine to run. but you can bring it back to about 15-20 mb by closing Rainmeter completely, and than starting it again.

Great collaboration with Col-Darby, really nice work!
I'm having a problem though with the Stacks, can't figure out how to configure them?

For the title and the icon, use the Rainconfigure tool that's included (so click the gear icon), to configure the folder, right click the stack icon, StandAloneStack2 will launch, make the changes you want and click ok. Note that the changes won't be active untill you press ok.

Right clicking on the stack icon is the problem, when I click on it, nothing happens. I'm going to reinstall it, see if that fixes it.

Alright, keep me posted
I don't have any issues here, the code should work, I have both spaces and a special character in the path to the .exe file and it's working fine here... :S

Thanks sgtevmckay, appreciated Now I'm using Rainmeter I can hardly imagine how I could ever be without it on my desktop.
It's really one of the most awesome pieces of software I've ever seen, so versatile and well supported.

Yes, because Rainmeter is available for Windows XP. You can download it at www.rainmeter.net. Install it, then download the .rar here, open it, double click the .rmskin file and the skin will be installed

No, unfortunately not. The Visual style (Adagio) is only available for Windows 7. I've combined that style with Flurry icons and Win8 Big arrow start 'orb'.
My taskbar is only in there to give a better impression of what this skin is.
