Description
I've noticed the image does not translate well onto the computer because of its scale. It's really disheartening that I am unable to share the piece how it should be viewed. To see it in the context of the gallery, click here: [link]Oil on Canvas
The size is 5 x 6 feet.
Full View is a must!
Winner of the Winnifred Cutler Purchase Prize Award, Cash Award for Painting, and Circle Graphic Award.

I checked out the picture in the gallery, it looks wonderful! I think you are great at what you do. Excellent work. I like the antique look the picture has in the scene, all the clothing and furniture looks amazing.

beautiful job on this one. The blending, composition and overall feel of the piece works wonderfully. Funny enough though, with a quick glance I thought it was a painting in tribute to H.P lovecraft, regardless you did a great job.

Thank you very much. I'm actually unfamiliar with H.P. lovecraft, so I'll take your word for it

It is so rare to see works like this! I love the tones of this painting, and the "snapshot" poses. Your skill technically is admirable and the details are fantastic. Wonderful job!

I really love this one. Im not sure why.. but I do. It may be the detail (again) or it may just be the setting. Excellent work.

could you go into a little more detail about the subject? is there a significance to the individuals?

hever In reply to macscotchale [2007-02-07 18:03:58 +0000 UTC]
Sure--this piece is more about the environment than the individuals-- Itβs a psychiatrist prepping a patient for an EEG-- the characters and their intentions are up for interpretation. I really wanted to portray a psychology in a different kind of light...not necessarily stark and sterile or even villainous --but in a way to give it some mystery, to portray it as an enigma.

Not really. Just combining my love of psychology and art. The book on the table is a booklet a professor prepared for my neuroscience lab titled "Fun and Games in the Neuro Lab"

ooh finally some good..and now I meant GOOD traditional art! I can believe you won something with that it's gorgeous.
I don't have to say all the stuff that "the pose, proportions, perspective is good", because I guess you know already that it's perfect
so let's move on to colours, I liked too much how you used almost warm colours except for the eyes and the shadow behind the first character...it gives more depth and charisma to the whole scene.
The concept for this work is astonishing. And I must say that I'll take that in my fave gallery (and believe me I'm hard on faves).
Continue doing what you do, you're a supertalented artist!

youre wonderfully skilled with oils. the control and detail is very impressive.
one issue i think is with the man behind the door. maybe its the light shirt that brings him forward a bit far. its trivial though.
damn nice.

hey lemme start of by saying this is an amasing traditional art. I really like the warm color and the old enviroment take me back at the time when there we no computer. Though this is a great peice i c that u need some work on the paper at the start where it come out of the machine. it look more like a fablic as it is now. And i'm a lil confuse about the light. It's comming from below (the floor)? Abit unusual for me to c. Never or less i like the detail on this and god job on the guy in the back coz he's not disapearing even though he's in the background. I dont know much about traditional art but i can only express what i c even though i'm digital. great job!

quite alright composition well thought out and interesting, the light created is believable (both the glow and excellent realistic shadow) and theres a story to the pic although its not immediately apparent which makes the viewers eye ponder it longer

The amount of detail blows me away! I like the warm colours scheme and the expressions on the people. I only wish I could see the real painting, I imagine a photo doesn't do it justice.
