Description
A quick study in ink of The Infant Samuel by Reynolds (1776).I wanted to try out some new brushes a friend picked up for me in China. I used india ink (sepia and black), a fine point pen, and white charcoal to heighten. Again, on tea-stained paper.

Holy crap. That blue shading on the face looks incredible, and the fineness of the lines on the hair is beautiful.

The blue can be attributed to my (not so) awesome picture taking skills. The white charcoal came out blue and I couldn't get rid of it. But I'll take credit for the fine lines...I bought an awesome little pen that was a win. So thank you

That's crazy that the charcoal did that. I wonder how that works.
Is it one of those little .05 pens where the lines are so thin they are difficult to see with the naked eye? I love those.

I love the classical feel to it. Indian ink is a nice mediom to work with. Good work!

Oh my goodness, I can't get over how beautiful your drawings are, especially with the accent of the ink and white charcoal. I'm going to take a figure drawing class this fall, I can only hope to be half as good as you are.

Aww, thank you!I'm very excited to be taking a figure drawing class. I'm decent at drawing people as it is just by picture reference, but definitly not as good as you are! I'm ready to learn all about it, I'm so pumped.
