Description "The 19,000 square-meter Memorial for the murdered Jews of Europe, which was opened to the public on May 12, 2005, consists of 2711 stones placed on sloping, uneven ground in an undulating wave-like pattern, giving visitors the feeling of insecurity as though the stones were on unstable ground.

Visitors can enter from all four sides, day or night, and wander on their own through the maze of stones, as though visiting a graveyard with nameless tombstones. The columns are sunk into the ground to various depths and at some places, they are higher than the heads of the visitors. There are no set paths or sign posts to guide viewers. The memorial was designed by architect Peter Eisenman to deliberately disorient visitors by having all the stones tilted slightly and paths that are not level."

Right in the center of Berlin.

Great photo. I like the muted tones, the way it fills the whole frame, and the fact that it's abstract but not so abstract that you can't tell what it is (which is important with something like this).

On the critique side of things, there's a tiny sliver of a block in the bottom centre of the frame - maybe it would be an idea to crop/clone it out?

For starters, thank you for your comment.

I am assuming you mean the airducts. There are three of them in the photo, it would have to be a large crop, resulting to a degradation of the photo quality. I don't mind them, because they are real, meaning they are a part of the monument, so in my eyes it's realistic.

Of course, had I had the chance to shoot this from a different angle and position, I'd do so. But this was the best position I could get.

Thank you

Actually I meant ever-so-slightly below the nearest vent (bottom left) on its right is a little strip of light colouration from one of the other blocks. That should just be a small crop or clone if it were done.

I agree with you that the air vents are too big to remove, and I don't think they detract from the photo.

You're welcome for the comment

You captured it really well, as it fills the whole area. I've been there myself, although I would have got a better feel for it had I not been with my class of giggling friends...

That is too true, but perhaps one day you will again be there and live it as you should in quiet Briliant place.

Thank you.

Beautifull picture. I'm gonna see this memorial next week, on a trip to Berlin, with school. A friend and I have to make a presentation of this memorial. I think this is the most intressting place in Berlin.

I can't really say if it's the most interesting place in Berlin, that is up to everyone's preference, I guess. But what I can tell you is that it isvery bizarre, very spooky and a smart design. Passes through a lot of messages without it being obvious or impressive.

Thank you for your kind words
