Description This is a map of the world of Arvanor from my epic fantasy novel Ferrian's Winter.

It is an old map, drawn circa 2000 and not terribly accurate. Many important place names aren't mentioned, for instance. However, it gives a general overview of the main countries and where things are in relation to other things.

If you like this map, please consider reading the story! Ten chapters can be read for free on my website , and the first book is available to buy at Amazon and Smashwords

Thanks for all the faves!

Beautiful Did you come up with the names of the areas or were they originally there? If you did, how did you create such amazing names?

Hi there. Thanks for the comment and sorry about the terribly late reply. I don't log in to my dA account much.

To answer your question: the entire map, including the landmasses and all the names, are completely made up from my imagination. Some of the names go back a long, long time to high school (1996). In my creative writing class we had an assignment to create an entire fictional world, complete with names. I don't know how I thought of them. They just sort of came into my mind. I've always liked simple, pronounceable names; not those complicated pretentious ones full of apostrophes that you get in most fantasy stories (sigh).

This world was part of a 200,000+ word fantasy novel series that I never finished.

... oh, I see.

Well, anyway, thanks! It's supposed to be somewhat symbolic: black, white and silver, sort of inspired by the yin/yang symbol. Represents the three Gods of Arvanor-- the God of Darkness, the God of Light and the Goddess of Life. Or it could represent my three main characters, Arzath, Requar and Ferrian...

Very cool. I love the sort of ancient style of it. I really must read this story.

Yep, I purposely chose to colour it in browns and greens to create a cool ancient map look. I think it turned out quite well.

Okay, that's it, I need to get around to reading your story. But I keep forgetting, or get sidetracked. Yes, must read Ferrian's Winter.

Yeah, read it! But be warned: the pages of Ferrian's Winter are littered with the bones of people who died trying to finish it...

Sometimes I wonder if I'M going to die trying to finish it.

Be of good cheer! I have no intentions of finishing A Tale of Tales online. Can't, it's too long. The ending will only come when it's published. After all, if you're going to put that much time and effort into something, you might as well get paid for it.

True, Ferrian's Winter is really too long to put online as well, but I need the feedback. Might as well get the critisisms now, when I can still change it...

True, very true. Blast that feedback, it's so addicting.

Thanks! Can't say I've ever thought about it... I didn't even know there was demand for such a thing. I do really like maps, though, and geography was one of my best subjects in school.

You don't like geography? No one ever likes geography. Except me. Yeah, drawing maps is fun.
