Well, after about a week of work, I've finished a promotional "poster" for my next-to-be-made Flash series. This is my first attempt at a CG Photoshop colored pic, and I think it came out well. Tell me what you think. Advanced Critique Encouraged.From left to right: Steak, Tater, Dumpling and Parsley. They're all named after foods...foods that represent them in some way or another.
The plot is that of a psychological teenage drama. But, this is no "The O.C." or some crap. This will be an 9 or 10 part series about 4 teenagers and how they each cope with life. This is real. This is not how Hollywood decides to show teenagers growing up, with their so-called "problems." It will have a little comedy, but mainly it will just talk about how the youth of today get by in life...without taking sides.
I want to do a serious Flash cartoon. Not only to show that I'm capable of more than just toilet jokes or "the Hate-dar." I want to show that I'm capable of writing a story that captivates people. Selfish reasons aside, I want to show the internet that a serious Flash series is possible, despite everyone having the idea that the only Flash cartoons that are made involve fart jokes and Megaman sprites...or is that webcomics?...doesn't matter.
Tools used: My handy-dandy tablet (for drawing...couldn't live without it), Macromedia Flash 8 (for lineart), and Photoshop 7.0 (for everything else)

PPS-I will finish Hyperboy. It's just that Hyperboy is all planned out in my mind. I know what to do and how to do it. This is the series I'm currently writing, so I can work on it after Hyperboy.

Awesome man! Great Idea, we COULD use some more serious flash animations. All of the Characters look good too. and the Photoshop CGing is really well done. **burns with envy**

heh, that's awesome. it's very hard to come across a flash cartoon that is serious, mostly they are either comedy or stick-fighting. It'll be interesting to see how it all works out. oh, and also, if that's how they are actually going to look in the actual flash cartoon, then i dont' think you should improve at all because you don't want to spend a lot of detail, like spending an hour or two on each frame just drawing in all the details for the characters. but i don't know, maybe that's how you do it anyways, i don't work with flash a lot.

No, of course not. The characters in the cartoon will be shaded much simpler. Just basic shading. Nothing fancy. I would never spend that much time on each frame.

Sounds like a pretty good idea to me. I've always hated the shows like the O.C., the Hills, and other crap like that ( Jeeze those shows piss me off >< ). ANYWAY! As always, I'm eager to see any of your artwork, and this is no exception.
Of all the characters, I like Dumpling the most...He reminds me of one of my friends. xD;;
Will this flash be based on real life events?--Just out of curiosity...

Those shows suck ass. They're so damn fake.
It's kinda based off of my thoughts, observations, and discussions with Austin. I have a grudge against modern teenagers and their decadence. But, I understand them. That's what this cartoon will look over. That kind of double-edged sword of teenage rebellion.
They're all symbolic characters, but Dumpling is based off of me from a couple of years ago. I'm sure he will be a fan-favorite. Him and Tater.

Almost 4 years. All of High School and most of 8th grade. We came up with Hyperboy in 8th grade.
Brick Wall was originally a comedy Flash series we were going to make. Same characters, but they were very cutesy and simple. Hyperboy replaced it as my first Flash.
Then, this year, I decided to do a serious Flash cartoon, and remade those old characters into more detailed ones with backstories and personalities.

Haha..well, actually, the backstories aren't important. Its what's happening to them now that matters. I haven't even bothered with their backstories. It's not an RPG, you know. They're very interesting characters, though.

That's true. You don't need backstories to make a great character. I originally saw the Hyperboy flash before reading the comics ( Please don't kill me...My friends already beat me up for that. xDD;;; ), and I thought it was great. After all the flashes I've seen, I still like Hyperboy the most.
On a side note, some of my friends RP with your Hyperboy characters...

It's not that they do let's say...Real RPs ( Where they go online and act like the people ). They just enjoy quoting the comics and flashes. And...sometimes...tend to act like them ( Both of these things done in the public, which I assure you is quite funny ). Of course, this probably freaks you out, but I guarantee you that it's meant for fun...Not to take any of your ideas. And no, they're not stalkers either. xD
