Petition for streaming Cyborg 009 on American websites . This is American only because they block them from other countries. Petition for releasing Cyborg 009 on DVD . I know several of you have merchandise you import or get someway from America, where ever this DVD is released, I must ask you to do that again.===END EDIT
Well, this is part of my answer to the question of the week over at Anime News Network . The question is:
"What old series/movie are you interested in that the new crop of fans is completely uninterested in? Why do you think that is? What steps would you take to reverse it."

Well, I don't think I need to tell you what series I enjoy XD
Seriously, this show had a prime place to gain a following, the Toonami block on weekdays in the 2000's was THE PLACE for animation. But, it didn't garner enough favor to appease the rating gods and it was banished to like 4:30am. What is more disheartening is the series never ran its course in broadcast, missing the last 4 episodes, and we cannot even view it through other means like a streaming site or DVDs.
It just makes me sad.
I wish, I could petition streaming sites to run the series in full, that would be a dream, though, I am unsure how to go about doing that.

XD trust me for the first few days they stayed under my pillow >_> after that they went to the anime shelf XD I was afraid I would crush them with my head, so I put them on a safe shelf

Man I found the Cyborg 009 manga on mangafox and got totally addicted to it. (But it only has one chapter which made me mad) Then I went on youtube hoping to find at least one anime episode and well it was a mess. @___@
I must find a way to see more of Cyborg 009 before I go crazy ;_____; *totally signed the petition*

I love the artwork ;__; <3 I am dying to see more of Cyborg 009. ;-; I was introduced to the series through the artwork I see plus the Shotaro also made a LttP comic (I love) with a character that really resembles 002. XD So I got interested in the Cyborg manga and dying to see more what happens. ;o;

oh yes, I've read that comic and have a copy of it (digitally) Ishinomori has this... complexity yet a simplicity to his works that I cannot get over and am attracted to.

yeah, there are fansubs available. THere is a bootleg DVD, but also a digital copies floating around as well. They are subbed TERRIBLY XD by someone in Asia who does not have fully grasp English.

That's the same thing running through my head everytime I try and fail to find Cyborg 009 episodes.
You can hardely find the manga as well. I heard that the company made a small amount of copies of the manga. I found one of the Cyborg 009 manga books...but it was so worn out that you could barely read the writing or see the pictures...not to mention the sides and corners were torn...not worth the money.
Its very sad. This was the anime that inspired a lot of stuff in current Anime and even American cartoons and to this day has one of the most emotional endings in all of anime to the point that fans begged the creator not to let Jet and Joe die.
This anime deserves more respect then it has gotten in terms of DVD's and other stuff. And the creator died years so he can't do anything.

Yeah, it's sad. You can watch the whole series online through a couple means, but not in English, with bad subtitles. We cannot even find bad subtitles for the 3 OAV episodes either :/ I can tell you where they are if you need them.
Actually! Someone is slowing working on scanning the manga. They've done the first volume here! [link] You can find volumes online, but since it's out of print, prices are high. There is a complete set of volumes 1-10 on ebay now, for a reasonable price too! (~$150)
Though, we are fortunate they respect this title in Japan, so at least new stuff is getting made. There is a new 3D 5 minute movie coming up that is about Cyborg 009!! Did you see the news reports about that?

Actually, that was kind incorrect on my part. There IS a US release of Cyborg 009, but, it is only 8 episodes. :/ Australia/UK got to episode 25. The rest, were only released in Japan on DVD ;_;
