Description Dogpatch, USA. (Yes, I live quite near Dogpatch. ><)
Based on the timeless comic strip Lil Abner by Al Kapp.
It's quiet worth reading the Wikipedia info about the creation, middling success and the (as Wiki eloquently puts it) surrounding wilderness is slowly reclaiming the park.
I can verify that last part.
I barely remember seeing anything with the actual park when it was living, but can always recall driving past those billboards with the characters on them.

It's highly surreal standing on the actual ground, most anything of identification is gone, except for what couldn't be removed because it was bolted down.

This was a real mill. The wheel has dropped down and it's not functional, the gears inside have come loose.
But the building structure was shockingly strong, and the grist mill sits as pristine inside it. (I have picture proof.)
I have to admit, it was gorgeous for the middle of the Summer. We've had ample rain, so it's really this green.
The Ozark hills, the flowing water, the flowers....

Heh, while I'm looking at this I'm picturing this place becoming an ideal night life spot for all the animals that live in and around the area.

Great shot, Wow i miss Dogpatch, went there when i was like seven guess it was the highpoint in the parks life. Little Abner and the gang we're all in fine form. Read in the paper every few years about the weeds taking over.

Amazing! It's funny, getting a few comments now and then from people saying ow they went there in the 60's and 70's. It just a ghost world now.

Thank you It was so surreal to be in the middle of it on a gorgeous day, surrounded by collapsing buildings.

Thanks! I was shocked that it was so pretty down there on that day, amid the crumbling buildings and rides. Gods, the inside of that mill is incredible!

my boss lives in Conway Ark. He just sent me a kids wallet with Li'l Abners profile on it and a foot long felt Daisy Mae from A gift shop there or close to it. "It's true, I has Spoken! "

Oh lol! ^^ I just remember the park in my youth, and seeing the signs with the Schmoo on it. There were lots of those artifacts around here with the characters too. Alas, all the images to be found were already stolen from the park.

Nice! I am about to leave for work at the mill. But ours is only a museum.

This was actually a historical mill that the park was built around, and it was surprisingly beautiful.
The gears and wheels inside have fallen into disarray, but they are there and like an ancient Steampunk relic.
The grist mill is there as well.

Its been quite a long time, but I have been through dogpatch once. There was a time we did a lot of exploring of the country as a family.

Okay, that topped it all, I never thought of asking my DA friend if any went through Dogpatch. Amazing, simply amazing!
What year are we talking about? I guess you wouldn't happen to have any photos from then.

Thank you! I couldn't believe in the midst of this surreal zombie-like world there was such an amazing and beautiful scene sitting there before my eyes.

Isn't it? I mean, it was located in a beautiful piece of land, but at first glance the place was a real ghost town. But there is looks like a postcard.
