Yesterday was Cirno day! 9/9/09 I hope all Touhou fans remembered.Cirno is the self proclaimed "strongest" character in the Touhou universe. She isn't strong at all though, and she's a bit of a dunce. She's an Ice fairy, and to her credit she's the strongest in of her race it would seem.
Cirno is either mad at me here for not finishing the picture before today, or she's confused as to why the snow is falling when she didn't cause it, either way.
FYI: For those of you confused about why 9/9/09 was Cirno day, it's because Cirno once appeared in a touhou game manual on the diagram numbering all of the pertinent information on the game screen. She was the enemy on screen in the screenshot, and was labeled as "(9)--->idiot"
Ever since, a "nine" in touhou fandom has been synonymous with the word "idiot." It is most typically used when referring to Cirno.
EDIT: This was scrapped when I went crazy and worked on the picture for another day.

Okay, so I know next to nil on Touhou, but that's not going to stop me from liking this illustration. The pose and her expression compliment each other very well, but also the angle with which you presented her seems to emphasise these well. The colouring in her hair kinda reminds me of frosting...I don't know why it does, but I think it's pretty neat that way! The dress is coloured really well--I love the shading and the subtle shimmer!

Touhou's fun, and most of the games have english patches nowadays if you ever get the desire to try them out. (there's a couple of fighters too, which are surprisingly fun, the newest of which has this character)
And thanks! This picture was a bit of a project, and the more I look at it the more I want to do more with it. Do you have any tips on making brushes? I feel kind of limited by the presets i'm dealing with. Anyway, funny thing about the hair is that I redid it like, 6 times. I liked this result best, but I never thought about it looking like frosting. That thought makes me a little hungry.
Anyway, as ridiculous as this may sound, I've been trying to make the image look better since you made this comment. Pushing the contrast mostly,
