Description
Walking down the freshly watered sidewalksLeft dark blue by the rain.
A car drives by, spraying you with mist
from a puddle near by.
You pull your jacket tighter, to
Protect from the october chill.
You inhale silently, letting the crisp
Fresh air fill your lungs.
You raise your nose to the air, and sniff,
The smell of coal lingers in the air,
Telling you that theres a warm fire near by.
You hear a hearty laugh, the kind that
comes straight from the heart,
You look over a mother and daughter are seen
from the dull street lights above their car.
They laugh another melody like laugh and dissapear
into there house.
A pain of glass is all that seperates their living room
From the rest of the world, through it you see
A father sitting and watching t.v with another daughter.
A fire blazes beside them, the mother comes in and warms
In front of it.
You manage to look away from the picture perfect family,
And look up at the dark sky, overcast with dark clouds, promising more rain.
You want more rain, you love the smell it leaves behind, rain mixed
With dead leaves, painting the sidewalk hughes of the sun,
But at night leaving the sidewalk glistening dark with the rain covered leaves,
Only seen between street lights.
Your pace quickens remembering the picture perfect family,
almost teasing you with the warmth of a fire yet to come.
You imagine yourself in front of it with a hot cup of cocoa.
''But all in good time'', you think to yourself.
You have to get home before you can sit inside on this
chilly October night.
You pic up your stride, and with each step, the thoughts of
fire and cocoa become stronger.
