Description
Acrylic on hardboard (12 x 16)Another exercise to get me started. Acting on a thought I once had. If you feel burnt out, one way of pushing through that might be to express that burned out feeling. Turn your void into your source of expression, no matter what lack luster image it may produce. Unfortunately, that is harder to do than to say, especially right when that feeling first sets in. But now, after having rested up, the void persist, but my desire to create is returning. So with that thought in mind, I put theory into practice.

Empty spaces. And now, I feel empty too. Respect.

This was the first of your images to grab my attention. Its really good.
I teach art and Im always hoping that the students will someday let go of all their expecting and start accepting. Letting the art make itself. I tell em that intention translates, and this is a brilliant example. I dunno why I relate to it, but obviously real art is a language. I heard it.
btw your Mom pointed me here *L*

Maybe its the void that is the source of creation, from nothing comes somthing, sort of like the start of the universe.
This is Really cool btw.

Thanks. Creating from nothing was my experiment this year to get myself back into painting. It worked for a while, not I seem to be back at the dead end. Thank you very much for the comment, and the fav.

Looking good, a rapid return to form methinks.
Seems to have an incredibly strong sense of place. . . if you know what I mean ( not sure if I do myself . . . )

LOL Thanks CM. Starting to get back in the groove. And even though I can't explain what you said, somehow it makes sense.

This makes me think of place where time stands still. I really like the pale glow of the moon and how it gives everything an eerie luminance.

Now, this one is a bit of a challenge for me, although I think I can identify with it enough. It's interesting how those conical shapes seem to stand out in a very bleak and empty land--like a few ideas that appear on the mental horizon and then are simply allowed to fade into the past without any lively support. Excellent color choice, and I'd say you put together a very good representation of the situation.

This looks like you are making your own path through an empty landscape ... it seems desolate at first glance but there is also a feeling of hope just around the brow of the hill!

I just imagined this piece in a gallery with some of your other work.
The colors are more muted, the landscape empty- not a figure in sight...
The fact that I know your work really helps me to appreciate what this painting is saying... The barren feeling is really accentuated. Great job Jeff.
Right down to the colorless sun.
