A world similar to our own, yet completely different.

Aetherra is a fantasy project set in a kind of, alternative earth, with similar fauna and flora, the key differences is that Aetherra does not have the same continents, nor tectonic plates as earth, Aetherra is 20 degrees celsius, and the major difference, **Aether**.

Aether is a new element in the periodic table, it replaces 28% of Nitrogen in the atmosphere. It is known to react with other chemical compounds, with varied, and mostly unpredictable results. It is present all over the planet, from the water, land and all of the animals, plants and fungi, though it doesn't play a big role in their organism, mostly being used like another nutrient, only some animals and plants actively use Aether, and they use it in incredible ways.
The presence of Aether in the atmosphere has one great effect, **Aether storms**, Aether storms are like regular storms, but with high amounts of Aether in the clouds, this Aether mixed with the water eroded mountains over the millenia.
Due to the Aether brought by the storms, the low mountains and hot temperature of the globe, the planet is more lush and humid than our earth.

There is people in all continents, with their unique cultures, the names here are what the natives call their continents, though as i pretend to conlang, i will rename them.
The most Unique Continent here is "The land above the ocean", named by their natives like that due to it **being 2000 meters above the ocean**, it is in fact, floating above the ocean, it is, like everything else, caused by aether, high concetrations of aether some million years ago caused the continent -that by the time was underwater-, to raise directly from the ocean into the skies.

Soon more will be known about this world, and how animals and people survive using Aether.
