Just playing around with colors for her.If this keeps up, I'm gonna have to make her a member of Legacy or something. I wonder, is anybody using Diamond Girl as a character name?

You don't need a cleavage window to possess the Most Common Superpower. All you need is a big bust.

I never thought about how truly tasty a black Power Girl would be. Very good work.

I'm still playing around with colors for her. Seriously thinking about adding her to my multiverse. She could be Apex's cousin or something.

I do find it cool that you are testing different colors right now. not always a easy task to find the perfect look for characters.

Sometimes I'll do a costume and I just know the best colors for it. I like the Power Girl colors, but if I keep this girl around, I just can't do those colors, so I have to find something I like that seems to fit her.

That's understandable enough. you can't just throw into colors into a character.
Speaking of which, there has been a rant about Power Girl's new costume. what's your take?

Mostly... meh?
It just doesn't speak to me. And, even with the breast reduction, the P on her chest draws attention to at least one of her boobs.
I think the main reason the gave her a distinctive emblem and costume is marketing. This costume they can easily trademark, the old ones were so generic, they could be off-the-shelf sportswear, or something.
DC has just left me behind, that's all. They're busy trying to impress their new friends of the west coast and don't care what I think.

You know what, It is funny you brought up marketing, too. because it is about appealing to the masses nowadays. DC didn't have to change everything but then again, Marvel is a part of the game right now as well.

Well, they're both desperate to get new readers and trying any and ever thing to do it. As in Marvel's whole "look at us, gay marriage," marketing blitz and DC's anemic, "look, we've got a gay guy, too, he's 90 and he broke a hip having rowdy sex!" Especially since DC already had Obsidian as an established gay character.
The idea that to draw in new readers, you need some kind of gimmick, has -to my knowledge- never worked. And, I know it has alienated long time readers. I don't have a problem with change, per se, but dramatic change for the sake of publicity, without regard for existing readers is just tiresome.
If I was the Power at DC, I'd be working with the guys who are doing the animated movies and Young Justice. Those guys GET it.

It is not to say that other publishers wouldn't follow suit. (Image, Dark Horse, Top Cow, to name a few) sadly, DC and Marvel always been the ones to get the marketing blitz going, too. don't get me wrong, they have been successful ever since and still going strong, but the reality is that is where the readers know most, whether they're into comic books or otherwise.
Competition exists for a reason though, because there are always going to be success and failure.

I don't think this is about competition, I think it's about one-upmanship. Rather than just doing good stories, they seem to think the way to bring in new readers as the old ones die off, is to trash everything that's gone before and rehash it. When the Justice League debuted in The Brave and the Bold, it was new and different. It was fresh and it sold well. I tried reading the new JLA book, it bored me. Nice art, not much story. It's a cupcake. A piece of barely nutritious organic foam supporting pretty icing and it lasts less time than it took me to write this.
Then there are the animated series and movies. There's Young Justice, Gods, there's Young Justice. What an awesome TV series.

DC has some good animation so far, especially with the Green Lantern and Young Justice TV shows with great voice acting and the animation as well. Who knows if the new 52 will be as good, if not better than the original 52 series.

My guess, based on the bit that I've read, is....not.
The key seems to be remaining faithful to the source material. The New 52, ain't.

Probably one of the reasons why some DC readers are worrying about DC alienating its own history, because as you said of the reboot, the people felt they had to destroy everything to reinvent themselves not just for DC, but for new readers. I mean, why in the world Wonder Woman would consider using guns now after she had her golden lasso for centuries? It's ridiculous!

I realized what bugged me when I tried reading some of the new 52. To me, they read like bad fan-fic. Weak on storytelling, world-building, heavy on kewl scenes and vignettes.

I also thought the first 52 was a bit overhyped, because despite all of the characters in the universe and their spinoffs of the series, the stories weren't as exciting as it turned out to be. the actions and the fights all weren't too bad

Hmmm...have to think of something else, then. I don't do a lot of boy, girl, man, woman names, anyway.
