Hypothesis:I really have just one original character, and my gallery is a result of failed attempts to reproduce it over the years.
But in all honesty, this is something that's been bugging me recently. I have difficulty drawing my own characters consistently! I don't know if this is the reason I keep making one shot characters or just a result of the practice.

Maybe if I practice drawing crappy manga I will get better at this.

Man, I've been there. At this point I'm pretty sure that a period of absolute despair is simply a standard part of the art process. Like, crippling depression and self doubt are as much a necessary step as idea, sketches, revisions, etc. I sure can't make anything good without spending some time feeling like human garbage in the middle. You know, at that point where it's clear that what you're actually producing is not shaping up as good as what you initially vaguely envisioned at the beginning. Then after staring into the void of self-loathing for a while, I recover and push through, rinse and repeat.

This is so bloody true, I can draw a character from one angle, but it's almost impossible to draw them the same from another angle.

Aw, I'm sorry, but repetition sure helps! A thing I do is not worry about all the details and just draw them. If you worry too much on everything matching up every single time stuff like this does happen.
