Hypothesis:I really have just one original character, and my gallery is a result of failed attempts to reproduce it over the years.
But in all honesty, this is something that's been bugging me recently. I have difficulty drawing my own characters consistently! I don't know if this is the reason I keep making one shot characters or just a result of the practice.

Maybe if I practice drawing crappy manga I will get better at this.

Oh, boy. I feel your pain, man. It really sucks trying to drawing characters at different angles, only to end up with a creepy, unrecognizable outcome. T^T I think you hit the nail on the head in terms of expressing this problem.

That's the most accurate summarization of a recurring problem. I gave up drawing a long time ago, stopping my projects as they were starting for this reason, among many others (one being that I'm lazy and suck at organisation, so since I'm in a relationship, I have less time. Time I used for drawing...)
Good thing my GF wants me draw again, but I have to practice from scratch !!! So hard when you're in your 30s...

Granted I know this entry is old, but for as long as I've been creeping on your entries, I have to say you're in deep trouble. You sir have a LLLLLLLOOOOOOONNNNNGGGGG way to go to make "crappy "manga"
Only because no matter how hard you've tried, even your worst manga (I don't even know which one it would be) turns out awesome and makes my day.
SO PUT YOUR BACK INTO IT! We've got a quite the journey ahead of us on our QUEST FOR THE CRAPPY MANGA!

well maybe practice drawing each defining feature of the character and draw how they would be in the different angles.and then put them back together and try drawing them in those different angles together?...idk lol I have the same problems so I should probably take my own advice
