Description
It's been a looooong time since I made one of these. Why? Because for pretty much this entire console generation, games have been utter sh*t, and constantly pointing that out just became depressing.
Everything was being sold with a "season pass", so you knew off the bat that it was an incomplete product. Everything was leaning toward multiplayer, and not the kind where actual skill is rewarded, being as they were all pay-to-win. Ignoring the microtransaction, pay-to-win bullsh*ttery of its easily-dismissed online component: Red Dead 2 finally bucks that trend. It is an EXQUISITE game.
If you want an open world to explore, that (unlike GTAV) is actually full of interesting things to find and interact with: you need to play it. You will spend hours on the main game and sidequests that are marked for you, but there is a TON of hidden stuff scattered across the land, making this one of those rare AAA games that is genuinely worth the price tag.

Not even just Nintendo, Call of Duty managed to fix their shit and make an enjoyable FPS again. Shadow of War, despite having micro transactions in a mostly single player game, managed to make a great game full of content and eventually removed the micro transactions all together.

A good chunk of the major stuff has been. I've got some titles I really like on my PS4, but they're mostly stuff that came out before the big micropayment bonanza (Shadow of Mordor, Horizon Zero Dawn,) remakes of older games (Odin Sphere Leftru... luftra... lubblebubble,) or smaller games that aren't going to be diced up by big studios (the Digimon Story games.)

Yeah but even then the major stuff still had good stuff (Shadow of War, Bo4, most of the stuff out of Nintendo) despite having DLC and micro transactions

Not to mention NieR: Automata, Bloodborne, Overwatch - there's plenty of good stuff out there. Hating everything is the "in" thing, though, has been for a while, so I don't see it going anywhere. The new thing is bad, the old thing is good. And there will always be plenty of online sycophants ready to agree, because OMG you're SO right, I thought I was the ONLY one who sees how shit everything is, isn't it so hard being right all the time?

Iβll agree with that, even though I think Overwatch is definitely waning in quality as of late. I donβt think itβs a bad thing to hate on the newer stuff since they can get a bit out of hand (Fallout 76, Starwars Battlefront 2, etc.) but hatred for everything thatβs new isnβt a healthy way of thinking

Wonderful.Β Β Now I feel like I have to give this game a try and this is coming from someone who doesn't genuinely like open world sandboxes.
The hat panel is the best BTW.
