Description I`m a big animal lover but haven`t exactly got a wardrobe full of shots of them in my gallery, but I like this one enough to submit.

This gorgeous girl happily trotted over as I walked by and promptly posed proudly like a Pro for me for several shots

She got her rewards for her co-operation by sharing half my Mint Cake

Was gonna crop the farmhouse to the left, but it ruined the composition, pushing the horse too tightly to the edge.

Thought of this as a Mono conversion while taking it and post production,it suited it a lot more than colour.

Thanks for looking

This is beautiful!
Never mind the farmhouse, it also adds to the charm and rural look of the picture.

Wow, this is stunning.. I love the black and white... it's so dramatic! Reminds me of Gone with the Wind for some reason.

Like I said elsewhere,I think some shots are simply born to be converted to B&W

you're doing great
next time you a passing through have a little peek at my gallery and tell me if you think it was time i moved up to a DSLR ( haa haa) might have to win the lottery as my local camera shop said having seen my my photos suggested i move up to the 300D

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JonnyGoodboy In reply to fineartbyandrewdavid [2008-05-08 18:06:08 +0000 UTC]

The 300?
Thought that one was extinct
Consider the 450D Andrew, recently released or if budget$ tighter the 400 price has been dropped to co-incide
I don`t think you`ll be disappointed with either.

If i win the lottery ( haa haa) then i might consider upgrading to a DSLR still want to get these lens which come with the camera i have now, how much did yours cost

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JonnyGoodboy In reply to fineartbyandrewdavid [2008-05-10 00:12:53 +0000 UTC]

How much which?
The cam itself or one of my lens?

fineartbyandrewdavid In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2008-05-10 00:56:34 +0000 UTC]

i was referring to your camera as when i bought my S3 was thinking of getting a DSLR ( Nikon ) complete with lens purely because i do a fair amount of close up photography and people
my one currently sells between £268-£291 but then due to a drop in the economy this could be lower as with the extra lens probably in the region of another £300.00
do a search for the Canon S3 and you will see being only 2 years old there is still a lot of info on it

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JonnyGoodboy In reply to fineartbyandrewdavid [2008-05-10 01:28:24 +0000 UTC]

I had the Canon as part of a bundle deal they had in Jessops...it was £1,000 and some change plus of course I added the Wide Angle and some UV filters and an extra battery
I already want more lens too

If you plan to shoot people portraits more, you`ll want to upgrade to that DSLR in time and invest in a lens with a F 2.8 or if the budget can stretch, one with a F 1.4...I want one eventually

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fineartbyandrewdavid In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2008-05-10 02:02:46 +0000 UTC]

so your D40 is canon being just the body only you obviously had to add say one or two extra lens
i can also get a wide angle lens for mine to ( s3) as with candid people and street photography look at what i have here in my gallery [link]

which were all taken with my previous Fuji Fine Pix 602 / telephoto lens looking back it wasn't bad one but now with my S3 its not really a question of point and shoot as i am still getting to grips with all the features it has, if i can hopefully relaunch my photographic business

and look at selling some of my images then who knows this will then get me on to a DSLR
I think this place has really started to open my eyes ( haa haa)

fineartbyandrewdavid In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2008-05-20 22:21:52 +0000 UTC]

even though i have quite a few images of candid & street photography in my DA gallery
i also have quite a few here [link]
have you tried doing candids or are you more suited to landscapes

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JonnyGoodboy In reply to fineartbyandrewdavid [2008-05-20 22:43:38 +0000 UTC]

Excellent mate, been testing the waters with lots of street shots over the past few weeks, experimenting all the time...got a 70-300mm telephoto but looking into buying the new Tamron 28-300mm Zoom cos it has Image Stabilisation and I think I need it when at the full end of the zoom

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fineartbyandrewdavid In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2008-05-20 23:17:26 +0000 UTC]

so you have done a few candids then, i have seen or looked at these Tamron Lens they look amazing
my camera has image stabilization, be keeping an eye out on your gallery to see some new candid shots from you

More than a few yeah,Grannies are good, they slow to catch on you have a whopping Big lens pointing at their face
Caught this one picking her nose the other day

fineartbyandrewdavid In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2008-05-20 23:57:42 +0000 UTC]

When you are doing some candid/street photography do you prefer to shoot in color or black & white
and have you ever tried portraiture and sport photography as i can see you are /tell that you like to be in the open air

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

JonnyGoodboy In reply to fineartbyandrewdavid [2008-05-22 15:38:54 +0000 UTC]

Well,I always shoot in colour of course and do all Mono conversions later on the
I think Street Photography in general is made for B&W and pretty sure most of my Street subs (whenever) will be Black & Whites

Never done Sports and only dabbled with Portraits too.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

fineartbyandrewdavid In reply to JonnyGoodboy [2008-05-23 00:29:59 +0000 UTC]

i also shoot in color too but the camera i have now gives me the ability to apply effects like black & white sepia but then i can easily replicate the same effects in photo shop which we all know any one can do this ( haa haa) go through my candid gallery here on DA[link]

and see the candids i have on my website here [link] you will be see the different types of effects i have added/applied to my images, i have done portraits/group shots but mainly of my other half and her family which in the past

has brought me inquiries on whether i did portraits and weddings oh and i have done sport/event photography too cool eh !!!!!!!!

JonnyGoodboy In reply to fineartbyandrewdavid [2008-05-23 22:31:34 +0000 UTC]

Gotta be honest,I ain`t fussed on most of the effects for Street stuff,I don`t think you really need em,your shots are good and interesting enough on their own
