the more dynamic lighting certainly looks nicer. I'd only have to wonder what sort of ocean dweller you intend to make this, ya know? From what I see here I'd think more deep sea, and if that's the case then I think adding bio-luminescence would be very appropriate. If not and it's meant to be in a tropical area then perhaps brightening the colors?Β
Other than that the attention to detail on this is very nice. : )

I was loking at it actually being more a fresh water one rather than ocean. Im working on a brighter more tropical version atm

Ohhh I see. That makes total sense then, given freshwater fish tend to have a more mute color scheme but with some bright coloration here and there--kinda like the purple on your hippocampus. I look forward to seeing your brighter/tropical version!Β

I agree with Nars, but there is one thing I would love to see you add, if at all possible. some bio-luminescence along it's body in patterns, i think it would just push it into more amazingnessΒ

Thats a great idea, I was thinking about it but I was worried it might make it look...sparkly, as if id tried to make it look 'magical' :/ But I'll give it a go

darken the edges of it, like pitch black, it will give it atmospheric glow, which I think will help to make it more like a glow and less sparkle

I tried the bioluminescence and it really didnt look right on this one, I might do a deep sea one at some point

I think what I liked most about the original was the brighter colors and barbels XD I think the other's front... legs? looked a bit better as well.
