Chapter 12
In a prison cell, there sat a prisoner, concocting his method of escape. This prisoner was Frorigus, an ex-judge who wanted absolute control of the kingdom, as well as the imprisonment of those he deemed “Impure”. He thought that all whose views contradicted his deserved no redemption and were forever tainted by defying him. Eventually, the guard appeared, sliding the small trays of food and drink under the small compartment of his cell. As the guard began to move away, he grabbed the guard’s arm and yanked, smashing the guard’s head into a cell bar, knocking the guard unconscious instantly. He then reached his arms through the bars to search the guard. Frorigus finally found a key, then calmly strolled through the dungeon, defeating any guards that attack him with relative ease. Eventually, he made his way out of the dungeons and managed to hide himself until the search for him died down. Meanwhile, Jeikudon sat far away from the kingdom on a cliff, watching it. He heard the sound of beating wings, and Raikura landed next to him, then nestled up to him. Jeikudon thought about asking Raikura to be his queen, but he thought to himself “What if she says no? Then I’ll have spoiled this beautiful moment between us, as well as put our relationship in jeopardy.” Raikura asked him “Is something wrong?” Jeikudon then tried to lie “No..” Raikura then said “You make a bad liar, Jeikudon. Tell me, what’s the matter?” He then thought quickly, and produced the answer “It’s just this whole situation with my sister and my father. It’s just a lot to take in”, which he actually felt, making sure not to lie to her or blow his secret. She then said “I understand, but there’s nothing to be worried about. They’re your family.” Jeikudon then said “You always have a way of cheering me up, Raikura. Thank you.” She replied sweetly “You’re welcome, Jeikudon.” The 2 then headed back to the kingdom, where they arrived at the palace entrance when a guard hurriedly ran to them and said “King Jeikudon, Frorigus has escaped!” Jeikudon then said “What!? I should have been here, I could have stopped him.” He said as he began to walk away worried. Raikura then said “It’s ok, what’s past is past. There’s nothing we can do to change it.” Jeikudon then said to the guard “Send this message to General Wyraxus. Tell him to send search parties in and out of the kingdom to see where he is.” The guard then ran to deliver the message, as Jeikudon thought to himself “He won’t get away, not while I’m around.”
