The CLEAR party website has a lot of information on the subject, and this is a decent read on some of the benefits of legalising marijuana.

For those who are TL;DR

Women in the past have used it during pregnancy to help them with nausea and pain. The kids didn't have an addiction to it when growing up. Also your bones have cannabiniod receptors. When you use weed it actually strengthens your bones. Now think of this, natural pain killer that doesn't strain your liver, heals and strengthen bones, can be used while pregnant. If I were a part of a huge company that makes money off of people being sick I'd be terrified of this being legalized. We can't let big corporations own it.Β

I completely agree with the idea of legalizing marijuana. I also believe that we could possibly use genetic modification to limit THC in the plant itself because I think a major issue with it is the fact that the THC can cause problems when it gets in the body (I'm sorry if I'm wrong with that statement).

We sadly haven't done much good with genetic modification. The only crops that even have slightly higher yeilds are soy and cotton. But thanks to this we spray less pesticides but more herbicides than ever before which ends up harming the soil. Not to mention GM foods are banned in other countries and even more countries are banning more and more GM foods. I just don't trust them. Also it has many medical properties it's just better to leave it be.Β

You could say that weed is not a drug, but a plant. That's actually true, but guess what else are plants? Cocaine, Opium, Scopolamine, and Yage. And it's true that marijuana and hemp have a lot of practical uses, like medicine, paper, rope, fabric, fuel. But when it comes right down to it, all we truly want to do with it is smoke it without worrying about getting busted by the pigs. Then again, if you're baked golden, you're probably incapable of worrying about the po-po anyway, because the main reason we do so is to drop our worries and have a good time.

You do know that if it is only legal medicinally, there will always be that ONE person who would fake something just to get the good medical marihuana, and then people who actually NEED it won't get taken seriously, right?
