Description EDIT: This is still getting s but it would be nice to know of anyone actually using this! - gimmie a link if you make an animation using this as reference will ya? I'm interested to see ...also, it'd be great if you linked back to this tutorial so that other people can benefit from it too! ^-^
-----------------------------------
my good friend Cerzz has started to dabble in the wonderful and pain-staking world of animation! So far she's been lookin' mostly at dogs, so I quickly knocked up some thumbnails and threw together this tutorial to try and explain a few things. It only took an hour to put together, so it's not meant to be any conclusive lesson in making the perfect run cycle, more that it's simply intended to illustrate a few things which aren't easy to explain in words. I figured I'd post it up here in case anyone else finds it useful!

I suggest using this only as a guide, as you can see the animation itself is basic and by no means flawless!! the animation should loop automatically (if not, right click, loop) and if it's too small to read any of the text, right click, zoom in.
my tutors would screw if they knew I was workin' on this instead of my school work lol! ... me go bed now

Hope it helps Cerrz

Thanks for posting this, I'm starting to dive into the world of animation, too, and this should really help.
I have a couple of animation in my gallery, just two, Rabnak Animation(of her blinking) and Clayton Animation(of him swerving his ears back) if you wanna check them out. ^^
Thanks again!

If you want to put together simple animation download GraphicsGale (I think you get 7-10 frames) it's like Photoshop stripped down to the bare essentials (that's what it says when you download it anyway) way better than MS Paint.

I'll try this!

Also Paint shop pro used to come with a cute lil' animation program called Animation shop! that's worth looking into too

hurrm.. mind you, this was back in the day when PSP was owned by JASC... I think they were bought out recently so animation shop might not be included anymore... it was a good lil' program tho \:]

I heard about Jasc but whenever I googled 'Jasc' it brought me to the Corel website.

that's probably it then, Corel must have brought the rights for PSP \:]

Thank you so much for this tutorial. I don't know if I have the skill/programs to use this tutorial yet, but it's very well written. Thank you so much and keep up the great work.

KatCardy In reply to Kayelei [2006-11-30 09:19:02 +0000 UTC]

thank YOU very much for the kind words and encouragement... it's nice to get some feedback instead of just anonymous s!
- the skill, that will come with practice, and as for the programs, all you really need to try this out is some paper... you could try making a flipbook initially. - happy animating! ^-^

DragonSnap In reply to ??? [2006-10-01 03:29:10 +0000 UTC]

very useful, but in some frames you've drawn the head too high. generally animals keep their heads down when they run.

you're probably right, it was only a quick thing I chucked together as an example for a friend.. it was only ever ment as a rough guide.
