Please note the words below contain a fair amount of spoilers, so if you haven't watch ep10 of Legend of Korra yet, I strongly recommend not to read!

I know everyone is drawing this, but I just can't help myself not to...
Lin, you're my HERO!!! And really Toph's girl!!

OMG, I feel so hurt and sad now!!! I needed to draw this to comfort myself and the people who got hurt by the new episode.
OK, to be honest, this is the first time LOK really touched my heart and made me want to cry. I actually expected to see Lin sacrifice herself for the Avatar at a certain point in the show, but I didn't expect it to come so quickly. Even though I prepared for this moment, I still feel deeply hurt when I really see it.
I don't how Toph will feel seeing her daughter do all this. Guess she will be so proud of Lin, and heart broken at the same time.
Like mother, like daughter.
Toph was a hero of Awesomness, and Lin is a hero of sadness.
Lin is such a fantastic character, a tragic hero also, my favorite character in LOK so far, and the oldest character I've ever loved. Toph seems so strong and unstoppable, but Lin on the other hand doesn't always win the fight, but she dares to face battles that she knows she's gonna lose, and she sacrificed her most important thing to save her most important person and his family, which makes me admire her even more.
Beifong are the best!!
(But who can carry on the legacy now...)
and, I got the feeling that she will got her bending back later on.
The blowing white bubble implies her melted bending... I still need to touch this up.
I was a bit annoyed by the last shot, I mean that's definitely a highlight of the whole episode, and I screamed out when I heard that voice, you know what I mean. but I wish they could have given Lin a bit more time and let the sadness last/hold longer before that exciting moment hit...

...You know what adds to the pain and sadness of this beautiful piece? Being in Japan on a field trip and being unable to watch the rest of the Legend of Korra episodes after When Extremes Meet.

I wont deny a pang of sadness at this moment but I alreayd got brainwashed by Amon into loving his character.While this was heart braking it only made me feel even more interested in Amon because so far he is nothing like Ozai. He doesn't go into monologue of his greatness or threaten in a way he is too full of himself to follow through. He asked once and didn't say anything else and then he did it took her bending proving how bad ass this cold mother effer can be.
Regardless Lin my heart goes out to you because I can relate to your character because like you I care for those that look up to me like your officers did. I have had people under my command and I already sacrefised myself for them once I and like you I would do it again without a second thought.

yeah i feel like that when amon took her bending away toph felt so proud the her daughter was brave enough to do that i wish all of the old gangs sons and daughters could go see there parents again i wonder what they would do (and dont you find it weird how tenzin talks about aang and doesnt even sound sad that his own dad died?)

I think this was the hardest moment for me in the entire series. When I rewatch the episode I have to fast forward Lin getting her bending taken away because it just hurts me so bad. No other scene in Korra has made me feel that way. Toph definitely would be proud of her.

But really, it's a beautiful piece and a lovely reflection of such a terribly tragic moment in the series. Lin is a great character, and she faced everything with dignity and strength worthy of a Bei Fong.

But Amon struck her at the end, he didn't take her bending...did he? My computer was freezing up on and off so I saw the whole episode in shots rather than the continuous play. But I swear he hit her rather than take her bending.

I almost cried. Almost. Personally, i want her to live without it. Not out of hatred of hers, I just want to believe in the integrity of writing. Joss Whedon never ressurected his characters after he killed them, the amazingness of this will be ruined if she gets her bending back, it'll just take away all the emotion and make it cheap.

Yeah, but Lin Beifong really is nothing without her bending. Put yourself in her shoes for a minute: her mother invented metalbending and could easily be considered the greatest earthbender in the world (not counting Avatars), because she mastered her power at such a young age, so Lin has a LOT that she's trying to live up to. Metalbending was also probably Lin's last visible connection to Toph (besides the surname). Now think about the fact that she feels such a strong need to keep the peace, as shown by her job as chief of police and by her wish to protect the few remaining airbenders; she can't fulfill these self-imposed obligations anymore because, considering she apparently has no fighting skill other than bending, she is powerless.

Yes, I understand all that, I just think it would be rather mean of them to punish one of their characters so and say, "just kidding!" I understand why it's so sad, but in the past, when a favorite character on a show I watched died, after I was done screaming and swearing, I applauded the writers, and then cursed them when they brought them back to life an episode later. It's just lazy writing.

I really enjoy this piece. I still can't believe they did this to her! Tenzin should of jumped back and saved her. Toph...I could see her just breaking down and crying, she's probably just so proud of her. I'm sure she'll get her bending back, she just...has to. After all, she's Toph's daughter! I can't believe they did this. Ugh. I hate the creators right now.
