Welcome to the Kemonomimi club!
Rules:
kemonomimi-club.deviantart.com…
This club is dedicated to Kemonomimi or "animal-eared" characters.
News:
Update:
Rules have been updated: kemonomimi-club.deviantart.com…
Thanks for the input on this entry, based on what most of you said, the club is now more exclusive to the "kemonomimi" vision.
If you have any questions, feel free to comment.

I'm thinking about updating the rules of this Group, but before I do, I want to hear your guy's opinions on it. I know "kemonomimi" can mean different things to different people, and even though this club allows some non-kemonomimi type characters (such as mythical creatures, partial furries and characters with animal tails, but not ears, etc.) I was wondering if I should finally crack down on some of these things... Also, what do you think about the maturity level of the art that is submitted to this club? By default, we have the same rules as DA, but sometimes I feel a bit odd when 18+ art gets submitted here. Then again, it's filtered for our underage members, correct? Just a few things I have been thinking about lately, and I decided to ask you guys if you had any thoughts on the topic of changing some of our rules (which you can review here: kemonomimi-club.deviantart.com… ) Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
In other news, I made a Facebook fan page for kemonomimi (it's not specific to this club, although I did use this club's URL for the website). For those of you who use FB, I would love it if you became a fan: www.facebook.com/pages/kemonom…
Have fun and keep your kemonomimi art coming!

I have a question, if I may ask. In my main story, Dramens, my OCs have just a dragon tail on them. Some of the OCs that aren't Dramens are Kemonomimi, but very few have 4 ears (human ears plus animal ears) because it's attached to them. So here's the question: Are they allow in this group, or do I just put the Kemonomimi with animal ears and tail here?

If they only have a tail, then they wouldn't be accepted. But if they animal ears and human ears then that's fine. Just as long as they have the animal ears.

I'm sorry, but NO furries. Period. They have bajillions of more popularity than us anyway, and we need a place for just US.
In fact, wasn't the entire point of the club to differentiate(not discriminate) ourselves from them?
Put simply:
With just tails no ears- Fine
Natural Furries- No
Myths- ...depends. I mean Nagas are snake kemonomimi, centaurs can count, but things like Griffins and stuff? No.
18+- well, I kinda see that as a bit of sexualization of us, but kemonomimi art is kemonomimi art, I guess. Just use filters.

If my art is what caused this, I'm sorry!
I just wanted to join a DA club and I kept getting rejected by the anthro ones - I kept hearing "your art isn't furry, it's more like kemonomimi". I'd never even heard of kemonomimi before hearing that a few times, but I searched and found this club and thought maybe it was a better place for my art? If it wasn't, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to cause any irritation, I just wanted to find a club to put my art on.
I guess I should just accept that my style lives in a twilight zone where it's not really anthro but it's also not really...anything else (lol)

Huh? No, this wasn't caused by anyone specifically... although, after taking a look at your art, I can see why it would be confusing. Unfortunately, the non-human skin color is now technically against our rules. I'm sorry for the inconvenience.
My friend is thinking about making a club for characters that don't seem to fit the "kemonomimi" or "furry/anthro" definition (if she can't find one already in existence). If she makes it, I'll let you know.

you are trying to define by the literal sense of the actual word which doesn't really always work.
The term is basically a human with animal parts that are not associated with humans. I would even count zidane (ff9) but I havent submitted any of him anyway.
partial furries, I can understand, but yeah, I wouldnt be too strict on it. I'll go look at the gallery.

You have a good point, and like I've told some people, I still have some mixed feelings about the tails/paws. I think tails are part of kemonomimi, but without the animal ears going along with it, I'm not sure the definition still fits. As far as paws go, I've been turning them away because I feel that it's beginning to cross over into a partial-anthro at that point (same goes for patches of fur on the body, animal noses and non-human skin color).

I wouldn't go as far as to make them have to have ears too, but I do argue with the partial anthro, kinda.. but perhaps that depends too, iunno.

lol i think im way late on this. but there is alllot of borderline explicit art coming into my messages. its just somethings are un necessary , i feel if its going to be nude , keep it tasteful or keep it minimal , but there is flat out have it all open and exposed , it just puts the stereotype on the art ( i mention animal eared people to anyone outside the general anime click , the first thing they think is porn.) there are plenty of clubs/groups for sexual based or pleasing art.

arosyks In reply to fishbicth [2010-05-07 15:47:02 +0000 UTC]
Sorry about that. Unfortunately, everyone has a different idea on what "tasteful" nude means. I'm not a fan of that type of art, either, but our policy has always been "we allow what DA allows" in terms of mature content. I can see your dilemma, because even DA's filtering system sucks...

yeah sadly , its not a problem really im of age (19) but i remeber when i was a kid on this site 6 years ago , wasnt hard to change your birthday to see these things and i know kids that are 13 14 who see these things , their teeangers yes but its still abit overly risk-eh. maybe theres something like , we allow what da allows , but be mindfull of our veiwers? like just to say keep t tastefull? idk

I added a bit to the rules to ask for more "tasteful" mature art. Hopefully it helps some.

Okay. I was spammed by 6 deviations of furry in the same day. By the same person. Isn't that like breaking 2 rules at once
Also, lined-paper drawings should be outlawed. Lined paper drawings usually mean doodles during classes rather than..well..drawings/actual art.
...Just saying.
But then again..how is it even possible for someone to submit 6 deviations a day rather than the limit which is 3. Did you not set the limit officially? Maybe you should...
Don't get me wrong. I love this club. It actually allows "members" to submit art rather than the this other kemonomimi club.
But..every person has to draw their line somewhere..
P.s. I don't have a personal vendetta against this person. But this isn't the first time I've gotten furry art in my inbox.

It says in the rules that lined paper drawings, as well as simple sketches, and photos of drawings aren't allowed in the club. Unfortunately for watchers of the club, even if I take them out after they've been submitted, you will still see the submissions in your inbox.
I didn't know you could set an "official" limit on how much people can submit per day, but the number has been 3 for a long time. People just aren't reading the rules, I guess =_=

Cootie-Queen In reply to arosyks [2010-03-23 19:23:48 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, I read the rule after I wrote my comment. Some people are just ridiculous. All a good portion of deviants want is self-promotion for the most part when it comes to groups and they don't even bother to the read the rules. U__U
You can set it officially. Just go to the admin area..then manage members...and go to "members" rather than co-founder" or whatever. You just have to make sure the global setting is 3 per day. I don't recall you having more than the featured folder, so just setting the global setting should be fine. c: That's a lot in itself though. Who does 3 (decent) deviations a day? Superdeviant? lol..but..nyeh. That's just my opinion.

Ok. Cool beans~ I would test it..But I definitely don't have 3 kemonomimi deviations (posted)...and I don't want to spam people, like, on purpose O_o. I'm am sure it will be tested (either on purpose or not) by someone (who may or may not have read the rules) eventually C:

I deleted the stack before I took a good look.
If you need help with setting the global thing I can take some screen shots of my own group's admin area..circle some stuff and write things out to help out. C:
It took me forever to figure out that crap xDD. And since groups are newish still..dA changes the format sometimes and updates it..I think....

Furry isn't counted as Kemono-mimi
18+ are okay if they have warning filter on them

I agree with *Kurama-chan :T
Furry and submission whores are not ok
Maybe make a maximum of 2 or 3 submissions a day..and slowly ween it to less? I mean seriously. What kind of person reels out 3 DECENT pictures a day :T or MORE
I'm lucky if I get a good picture done once or twice a week D:
If new members want to submit all their old stuff then they can do it in increments and not be so annoying :/
18+ should be ok. Well..as long as it has the correct warnings/mature filters on it. C:

crazy-vulpix [2010-02-27 21:26:09 +0000 UTC]
Well this is my opinion:
-I like what is being submitted now. Humans with tails, ears, and paws look fine to me. And even if they only posses one of those traits, it still counts as kemonomimi. It's pretty easy to spot something that's more anthro, and in which case it can just be removed.
-I think there should be a submission limit. Maybe 2 a day or something.
-Mature content should be okay so long as it fits dA's TOS in general. People should just make sure it has the proper filters. That way people that don't wanna see that stuff don't have to, but it still can belong in the group.

I haven't personally submitted some of my work that has, for example, just an animal tail in, like a commission I did that has a character with a lizard tail but no other animal features, because I thought without ears it wasn't kemonomimi enough. But I think the rules are generally OK as long as you don't include furries, becaus they're a completely different thing (I like kemonomimi and really don't like furries - I don't know why. XD)

I just get annoyed with two things:
- When just ONE person posts 3018301928302183012 drawings in a day. Honestly, some people need to have a bit of sense.
- When people post furry. Funny ISN'T Kemonomimi.
About the administration of the club, I think it's great, and we're treated well ^^
And the +18 is okay for me too.

The 18+ are okay, if any member does not wish to see them is as easy as to click on the little X over the deviation.
Although i honestly doubt someone around here is complaining about those...
As far as the other rules, i'm okay, as long as it not a furry itself, i can manage.

I am actually pretty happy with the club.
However, the furry thing, no offense to any of them, but I don't think they should be considered one of us. We have a tail and ears, and that's it. Furries are, exactly that, furry. Actually a big difference.

This is just my view on the topic. I feel this club / group should be specifically about kemonomimi, as opposed to kemono/furries.
"Kemonomimi" means "animal ears". To me, that's the appeal of this kind of character; that they look mainly like humans but have one or two contrasting traits of other animals. When the traits are blurring together, we enter "kemono" or furry territory. I know other places to find that.
Personally I think that kemonomimi should mean that what gets allowed is characters with ears + tail + maybe paw-like hands at most. And those that only wear a hat with animal ears, for instance. Point: we're looking at a human with a few animal traits, not an animal that's been humanized.
An exception could be for instance if someone draws a kitsune turned human, who has a human appearance, but made the classic kitsune mistake of having very thin fur all over.
But add ears and tail to that, and you've got a 50/50 mix. Too much.
Also agreeing with Estoppel there, that this new group system seems to cause accumulation of pictures that diverge too far from the aim of the clubs they're in. It's too easy to submit whatever you want.
As for 18+ images, I don't mind them. You can have them blocked, as you say.

perverted-kitty [2010-02-26 07:46:09 +0000 UTC]
i think kemonomimi means whatever it is; it is part animal, if anything i feel like adding just ears and posting it here is almost like cheating but i'm mostly specking of stuff where it looks like they wore added on as an after thought or look like they could be on a head band and not attached to the head, that's what bothers me >
because some art if far more "kemonomimi" in my opinion, with human ears and all, then some of the cat/bunny/puppy ear totting counterparts, so uh case buy case?

BrazilianNut [2010-02-26 06:25:09 +0000 UTC]
Nothing against features like tails, paws or muzzles, but I believe that the images submitted must at least have said animal ears. Also accept characters that usually don't have them, but are portrayed with such (example: [link] ).
No anthros, too. "But they have animal ears too ", so what? They ARE animals, if that's the case I'm going to submit photos of my dog and cats.

hmm well, if things were like they used to be before groups, I'd say keep accepting such things, but with groups getting so large in such a small amount of time and so many groups being created, I think that cracking down would be one way to keep the the group more focused/specific and smaller.
Before it might not have been a problem, but lately, so many people throw their stuff into any group that can barely apply to their deviation and they don't really care about the individual characteristics of each club, only that they get the exposure and that can kind of swamp a club and kind ruin it, you know?
